We’re headed to Monaco now for the sixth race of the season and after five stars, it has been a complete domination by Mercedes.
The Silver Arrows finished with their fifth 1-2 finish in as many races this season after Lewis Hamilton won the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton passed pole-setting teammate Valtteri Bottas early and never looked back to claim his third win in the first five races of the season.
On the other hand, Bottas had to settle for second place while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen completed the podium by finishing ahead of the two Ferrari drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc, who finished 4th and 5th respectively.
But the story of the race was Mercedes, again. In what has been a record-breaking start to the season, Mercedes is perfect to start the 2019 season with 1-2 finishes in all of the five races so far. As for Hamilton, it’s his third win of 2019 and the 76th of his career. Hamilton now reclaims the lead in the Drivers’ Standings from Bottas as he continues his search for a sixth Driver’s Championship overall and third in a row.
Here is the updated Drivers Standings, with the result of the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix already included:

As we said, Hamilton reclaims the lead from Bottas after the latter led by a solitary point prior to the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix. But more than the 1-2 race between the two Silver Arrow drivers, what’s significant here is how far back the next non-Mercedes pursuer is from Hamilton: 46 points. With another race in the books, the drivers will now look forward to the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix to try and narrow the gap between them and Mercedes who have taken massive 96 point lead in the Constructors Standings over Ferrari.
The 2019 Monaco Grand Prix will be held from May 23-26, 2019 at the 3.337 km long Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo. The 78-lap race covers a total race distance of 260.286 km of challenging driving around the tight streets of Monte Carlo.

The odds to win the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix aren’t out yet and we will update you once the numbers are up. However, we are still going to give our prediction for the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.
For sure, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will be the top f1 betting favorites to win their six straight race. But since the Monaco Grand Prix is considered as the most prestigious race in the calendar, expect everybody to bring out his A-game.
Hamilton has not won the Monaco Grand Prix six 2016 and you bet he’s going to be greedy to win the race this year. Hamilton has finished in the pole in Monte Carlo in all but one instance since 2014. He came in third last year behind Ricciardo and Vettel.
As for Bottas, it’s interesting to note that he hasn’t had a podium finish in Monaco in his Formula One Career. His best finish was 4th in 2017 and he was 5th in the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.
Last year Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull won the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix from pole, beating Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton who finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Ricciardo moved to Renault this year and he’s struggling so far this season with just six total points earned. While he is among the drivers to watch, he may not stand a chance against the rampaging Mercedes- both man and machine.
Sebastian Vettel is having a disappointing season so far. But if there’s a race that may bring him back to title contention, it may be the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix. Vettel and Hamilton each have won this race twice, the most by any current driver. Vettel has finished either 1 or 2 in Monaco in four out of the last six years.
If there’s a race where Mercedes 1-2 run might end, it could be here in Monte Carlo where Valtteri Bottas hasn’t made the podium. Lewis Hamilton for sure will be the man to beat here again, but I see Sebastian Vettel as his chief challenger here and Bottas maybe third. It has been a very dominant start by the Silver Arrows but for sure, they can’t keep it that way all-season long. I think it ends here.
Prediction: I’m picking Lewis Hamilton to win but waiting on Sebastian Vettel’s odds to know if he’s worth picking as well.
