The greatest golfers on earth will descend on Los Angeles for the 2023 US Open, and I know many golf lovers will gamble on the tournament. I can help by sharing my US Open best bets for 2023.
They are based on the latest odds and my detailed analysis of the tournament, the top players, and key stats.
Scottie Scheffler to Win
- Odds: +800
- Age: 26
- Country: United States
- PGA Tour Victories: 6
Scottie Scheffler went on an epic run in 2022, including winning Masters Tournament (his first-ever major championship). In 2023, it’s been much of the same story – Scheffler is crushing the competition at every turn. It seems inevitable that he’ll secure another massive victory.
In terms of his consistency, Scheffler is among the best players on the PGA Tour. He’s won two events in 2023 and has four finishes in the top 5 in his last four starts. Scheffler is proving all of his doubters wrong, and I expect him to continue on the same path.
Scheffler’s recent success isn’t a fluke either. He delivers incredible results in almost every tournament. The 26-year-old player was even able to defend his Phoenix Open title back in February (going back-to-back on the PGA Tour is never easy).
Getting +800 for such a consistent player is good enough for me.

Jon Rahm Top 5 Finish
- Odds: +250
- Age: 28
- Country: Spain
- PGA Tour victories: 11
Even though he struggled in the PGA Championship, Jon Rahm is having an excellent season. He’s won four events in 2023, including the Masters Tournament and the Genesis Invitational. When Rahm’s at his best, he can be unbeatable.

Rahm excels the most at limiting negative scores. He ranks first in total birdies this season for the entire PGA Tour and seventh in bogey avoidance. Very few players are better than Rahm when it comes to preventing mistakes.
Here’s another reason why Rahm intrigues me: he won the US Open in 2021 when the tournament took place at Torrey Pines. That golf course has a lot of similar traits to the Los Angeles Country Club, which is where the 2023 US Open will take place.
Backing Rahm to finish in the top 5 is one of the best bets for the US Open 2023. The guy is very strategic in terms of how he prepares and plays the game. I also expect him to deliver a strong performance, even though his form is suffering.
Collin Morikawa Top 10 Finish
- Odds: +280
- Age: 26
- Country: United States
- PGA Tour victories: 5
Collin Morikawa is a two-time major champion, so he’s got what it takes to fight for the title. He had a rough year in 2022, having failed to win a single tournament. Morikawa finished tied for fifth last time at the US Open – one of the few bright spots from the previous season.
Unfortunately, recent form isn’t favoring Morikawa either. His best result so far in 2023 was runner-up at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in early January. Since then, Morikawa has only three finishes in the top 10.
Although the results haven’t been great, Morikawa is still competing at a high level. He ranks high in several key categories this season, including approaches from 100-125 yards and strokes gained. If Morikawa can clean up his putting, he’ll be a real threat in Los Angeles.
Can Morikawa make a statement this year in the US Open? I think he’s a legitimate contender if he’s dialed in and brings his A-game. The odds of +280 for him to finish in the top 10 are too high to ignore.

Max Homa Top 20 Finish
- Odds: +180
- Age: 32
- Country: United States
- PGA Tour victories: 6
Not enough people pay attention to Max Homa, a true contender in the US Open. He won the Farmers Insurance Open back in January and has two finishes in the top 10 over his last three starts. Homa has also been one of the best putters on the PGA Tour this season.
A top 20 finish for Homa is among the 2023 US Open best bets for multiple reasons. He holds the course record at the Los Angeles Country Club, which he set back in 2013 while in college. Homa also won at Torrey Pines this year, which has similar features to Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, Homa often struggles while competing in major championships. His best finish in the US Open was when he tied for 47th last year. Homa’s best result in a Major was 13th place in the PGA Championship back in 2022.
Is Homa worth the risk if you decide to pick him to be the eventual winner? That’s probably a step too far, but a top 20 finish is a reasonable bet.
Keegan Bradley to Win
- Odds to win: +10000
- Age: 37
- Country: United States
- PGA Tour victories: 5
All the top sports betting sites are declaring Keegan Bradley a massive underdog to win the US Open. However, the former major champion can still compete at a high level. His best result in 2023 was finishing runner-up in the Farmer’s Insurance Open.
Bradley has a very unique skill set. His driving efficiency is really good, he can gain strokes, and no one’s better than him when scrambling from the fringe. Bradley also ranks fourth this season in approaches from 125-150 yards.
Is Bradley still an elite player? When he’s at his best, he can be a real nuisance for the other contenders. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Bradley were to deliver a championship-caliber performance in LA, and I’m willing to place a small wager at +10000.
