Bettors are already submitting their predictions for the 2022-23 NBA regular season award winners, which is set to begin in October. This includes various NBA futures, such as Sixth Man of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and the MVP award.

I want to offer my 202-23 NBA individual awards predictions and highlight the betting favorites. Now that the early odds are available, it’s time to shop around and search for the betting lines that offer the best prices.

Basketball 2022-23 NBA MVP Odds and Prediction

  • Luka Doncic +450
  • Joel Embiid +500
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo; +525
  • Kevin Durant +900
  • Nikola Jokic +1000

The NBA MVP award recognizes the player who delivered the best individual performance during the regular season. It’s also no surprise that the oddsmakers are favoring Luka Doncic, who’s quickly blossoming into an NBA superstar.

Nikola Jokic is fresh off winning his second consecutive MVP award, and Joel Embiid finished runner-up in the voting last season. Giannis Antetokounmpo is also a force of nature in the NBA and could easily add another MVP award to his already impressive résumé.

It will be competitive, but I really like the odds for Joel Embiid. He’s gotten close to winning the award over the past several seasons, and it seems inevitable that he’ll capture it. He’s also among the best two-way players in the NBA right now.

If the big man can stay healthy, I expect excellent production, and missing out so many times will definitely affect the voters too.

  • My Pick: Joel Embiid; +500

Basketball 2022-23 NBA Rookie of the Year Odds and Predictions

  • Paolo Banchero; +180
  • Keegan Murray; +500
  • Jabari Smith, Jr.; +550
  • Jaden Ivey; +550
  • Bennedict Mathurin; +1100

This year’s race for Rookie of the Year should be pretty interesting. It’s one of my NBA individual awards predictions that wasn’t easy to determine. We have many excellent rookie players in 2022-23 who could take the NBA by storm.

The betting favorite is Paolo Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He was arguably the most NBA-ready player coming out of college, and he’ll immediately play a big role for Orlando.

Let’s also not forget that Keegan Murray was this year’s Summer League MVP. He averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 steals over four games. He was efficient on offense and proved that he could stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting abilities.

Many people overlook Jaden Ivey, who’s a legitimate sleeper pick for 2022-23 Rookie of the Year. The Detroit Pistons were extremely lucky when he fell to them in the NBA draft. He has a score-first mentality, and his playmaking abilities are exceptional.

On top of that, the franchise will give him a big role and all the minutes in the world in the upcoming season. Combine that with the excellent odds, and I simply can’t resist the temptation of backing Ivey.

  • My Pick: Jaden Ivey; +550

Basketball 2022-23 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Odds and Prediction

  • Jordan Poole; +400
  • Tyler Herro; +650
  • Malcolm Brogdon; +1400
  • Jordan Clarkson; +1600
  • Bones Hyland; +1600

Reigning Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro is surprisingly not the betting favorite to capture the award again. In 2021-22, he was the clear frontrunner throughout the entire season. He averaged 20.7 points per game as a bench player, which is simply phenomenal.

Oddsmakers favor Jordan Poole because his teammate, Klay Thomspon, will play a full season in 2022-23. Poole was a starter for most of 2021-22, but he’ll transition to a reserve role for the Warriors this season.

Malcolm Brogdon will also be a bench player after being a starter for the past four seasons. He adds plenty of depth to a Celtics’ roster and should provide instant offense from the bench.

I think the oddsmakers are dead wrong on this one because Herro was nearly a unanimous winner in last year’s race for Sixth Man of the Year. In 2021-22, he played roughly 33 minutes per game on average, which is something that you rarely see from a bench player.

Some believe Herro will be a starter after signing a fat contract extension, but the latest indications suggest he will still be on the bench in 2022-23.

  • My Pick: Tyler Herro; +650

Basketball 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Odds and Prediction

  • Rudy Gobert; +425
  • Bam Adebayo; +650
  • Robert Williams; +700
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo; +900
  • Draymond Green; +1000

Marcus Smart, who was the 2021-22 Defensive Player of the Year, likely won’t win the award again. This year, Rudy Gobert, who’s a three-time DPOY, is the preseason favorite. He’s also on a new team – the Minnesota Timberwolves – and he should fit right in.

Let’s also not overlook Bam Adebayo and Robert Williams, who both had breakout seasons in 2021-22. Williams intrigues me because he recorded the best defensive rating in 2021-22 (100.5). His chemistry with the rest of the Boston roster is also getting better.

Ultimately, Adebayo earns my prediction because he’s a prototypical center in the modern NBA. He’s uncommonly agile and can defend just about anyone. His defensive production in 2021-22 was also impressive – he averaged 10.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

The guy can guard every single position, and the Heat should be one of the best defensive teams too. Too many factors work in Bam’s favor, especially since the odds for him are so high.

  • My Pick: Bam Adebayo; +650

Basketball 2022-23 NBA Most Improved Player Odds and Prediction

  • Tyrese Haliburton; +850
  • Anthony Edwards; +900
  • Jalen Brunson; +1800
  • Zion Williamson; +2000
  • R.J. Barrett; +2200

The next of my NBA individual awards predictions gave me a lot of trouble. It’s really hard to determine which NBA player will make the biggest improvement. We’ve seen several winners of this award in the past who were major preseason underdogs.

Anthony Edwards catches my attention because he’s already a good player who’s yet to tap into his full potential. He’s still got a lot of work to do on defense, but I expect him to make an All-Defensive team sooner rather than later.

The guy I like the most is Zion Williamson because the price is amazing. If he can remain healthy, he’ll likely have an outstanding season. I’m sure Zion is eager to prove that he can lead the Pelicans to a successful postseason run, so I’m going for him.

  • My Pick: Zion Williamson; +2000
