NBA Playoff Picks For Sunday, 4/26

The 2015 NBA playoffs rage on today, as four more games hit the schedule, offering the opportunity for three more series to come to a close. The Rockets, Cavaliers and Wizards can all move on to the second round with a win tonight, while the game of the night tips off at 3:30 pm ET when the Los Angeles Clippers try to tie their series with the San Antonio Spurs, two games a piece.

We made it through last night’s schedule with a 2-1 mark, with an unlikely Bucks win preventing the Bulls from getting a clean 4-0 sweep. We still walk into Sunday’s action with a stout 22-3 playoff record, so join us as we break down all of today’s action:

Los Angeles Clippers (3) @ San Antonio Spurs (6)

We were late to get this out (if it’s any consolation, we were taking the Cavs to sweep the Celtics), so you’ll have to do with three games tonight. The toughest game by far to call is this Clips/Spurs clash, simply because L.A. looked so good in the first two games. We’re siding with the Spurs ultimately, however, because they don’t lose at home often and that game three performance was insane on every level. I’m sure the Clippers were show up and play a lot better in a huge game four, but something tells me it won’t be enough for a team that keeps shooting itself in the foot.

Pick: Spurs 108, Clippers 105

Toronto Raptors (4) @ Washington Wizards (5)

If Toronto was going to win this series, they would have take a home game or found a way to win game three. They did neither, and are in an unfortunate situation as they face elimination tonight. They’re good enough to stave off elimination and force a game five, but Kyle Lowry has been banged up this entire series and I can sense some quit in the Raptors. They’re on the road and against the ropes, so look for them to buckle as the Wiz finish a really impressive sweep.

Pick: Wiz 101, Raps 97

Houston Rockets (2) @ Dallas Mavericks (7)

Dallas wasn’t great in the first two games but at home in game three, they looked like a real threat to the Rockets. Down 3-0, that threat is pretty much gone and this game four is all about pride. Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis might show up but the absence of both Chandler Parsons and Rajon Rondo could be telling. Nowitzki and Ellis both not being amazing again like they were in game two would easily give way to a crushing blowout. One way or another, the better team wins tonight and sends Dallas out of the playoffs via a 4-0 sweep.

Pick: Rockets 106, Mavs 102

NBA Playoff Picks For Saturday, 4/25

Friday night didn’t disappoint when it came to NBA playoff action – at least the first game didn’t. The Dallas Mavericks poured in 70 points at the break and did all they could to stave off the Houston Rockets, but Monta Ellis’ last jumper only hit the backboard and the Rockets took a 3-0 series lead behind a crazy 130-128 road win. We called that game correctly, along with the other two, as the Wiz buried the Raptors in a 3-0 hole and the Spurs dominated the Clippers at home to take control of their series, 2-1. That gave us a 3-0 run on the night and lifted our playoff NBA picks record up to 20-2.

We can see our first group of playoff series come to an end today, as the Bulls try to sweep the Bucks in Milwaukee and the Warriors can do the same against the Pelicans in New Orleans. The Nets and Blazers, meanwhile, head back home to avoid 3-0 holes. Let’s break down all four games and see if any of the underdogs can fight back tonight:

Atlanta Hawks (1) @ Brooklyn Nets (8)

Brooklyn tends to play their best ball at the Barclays Center, but they’re not elite in any facet, so it’s tough to roll with them simply because they’re at home. They’ve actually played the Hawks fairly well, but the matchup between Al Horford and Brook Lopez still isn’t ideal and Deron Williams has yet to have a truly good game this series. If Lopez wins his individual matchup and D-Will can actually hit some shots, sure the Nets would have a chance. But it’s a slim one.

Pick: Hawks 104, Nets 101

Chicago Bulls (3) @ Milwaukee Bucks (6)

Milwaukee did all they could to make this a series at home in game three, but Chicago showed up offensively where they failed defensively. Derrick Rose is in prime form and the rest of the Bulls are chipping in as needed. Look for Chicago to buckle down defensively in game four and get the sweep.

Pick: Bulls 103, Bucks 96

Golden State Warriors (1) @ New Orleans Pelicans (8)

The Pelicans have done a great job pushing the NBA’s best team to the limit, as the Warriors needed major heroics from Stephen Curry to win game three. That’s got to be the writing on the wall, though, when you have a team backed into a corner and can’t finish the job. New Orleans knows this series is over, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see a blowout win by Golden State to get them to the next round.

Pick: Warriors 109, Pelicans 88

Memphis Grizzlies (4) @ Portland Trail Blazers (5)

Memphis has been in full control in this series and the Blazers don’t look like they have much of a shot at making this a real series. That being said, Portland has to have one great game out of Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge in their back pocket, and it’d only make sense it’d show up in Rip City. The Blazers don’t have the defense or depth anymore to challenge the Grizz long-term, but they can at least show up and execute tonight.

Pick: Blazers 107, Grizz 104

Dirk Nowitzki

NBA Playoff Picks For Friday, 4/24

And that is what the NBA playoffs are all about. Derrick Rose looked like Derrick Rose again, Stephen Curry pulled off a miracle shot and we were blessed with two intense overtime battles on a highly entertaining Thursday night. While the action was fun to take in, you probably only fully enjoyed last night’s three games if they went hand in hand with your picks via NBA betting. If you rolled with us, they most definitely did.

We went a perfect 3-0 last night, bringing our young playoff record to a ridiculous 17-2 in the first round. Three more games hit the schedule tonight, with two more series potentially sending someone into a 3-0 hole (all three did just that last night), while the electrifying series between the Clippers and Spurs caps the night. It’s going to be a fun night of pro basketball action, so get yourself started by joining us as we break each matchup down and pick the ultimate winners:

Houston Rockets (2) @ Dallas Mavericks (7)

We may need vintage Dirk Nowitzki to keep this series from getting real ugly, real fast. Rajon Rondo is done (back) and won’t be back next year and Chandler Parsons (knee) has been ruled out for the playoffs. Dallas already wasn’t going to win this series, but now it’s all on Monta Ellis and Dirk. Their backs are more than just a little bit against the wall and this matchup hasn’t been working for them. They’ve been a pretty strong home team and they should have some fight in them, but odds are it won’t be enough.

Pick: Rockets 106, Mavs 103

Toronto Raptors (4) @ Washington Wizards (5)

This series is tough to call tonight, as these teams supposedly matchup extremely well, but Toronto really messed up by losing both of the first two games on their home floor. Ideally they return the favor in Washington, but the Wiz have been strong at home all year and the Raptors are just an average team. Kyle Lowry is also far from being remotely 100% and the Raptors don’t really have the defense on paper to contend with Washington’s offense right now. John Wall and co. limped into the playoffs but are suddenly playing at a very high level. Bradley Beal has specifically been lights out for about two weeks now. Logic does not support Toronto getting back into this series at this point.

Pick: Wizards 104, Raptors 101

Los Angeles Clippers (3) @ San Antonio Spurs (6)

If Tim Duncan is going to crush like he did in game two, the Clippers are in trouble. They’re in even bigger trouble if they continue to shoot themselves in the foot late in games like they did in game two. This should be a huge 2-0 series lead for L.A. right now, but instead of having all of the momentum they’re about to hand it to the Spurs. San Antonio is up against a very tough team (tougher than anyone realized before this series started) and is going to be extremely focused now that they’re back at home. I’m pulling for the Clips just to shake things up a bit in the playoffs, but San Antonio lost eight games on their home court all year. The Tony Parker injury (Achilles) could be a problem, but he wasn’t playing great in the first two games, anyways. Expect another close game, but the savvy Spurs should pull it out in the end.

Pick: Spurs 107, Clippers 102

Stephen Curry

NBA Playoff Picks For Thursday Night

The Spurs wouldn’t be denied. Tim Duncan braved the storm in L.A. to keep San Antonio from falling into a 2-0 hole by taking down the Clippers in overtime. That gave us a 3-0 sweep on Wednesday night, too, lifting our NBA picks record to 14-2 in the playoffs. Perhaps these playoffs have been fairly easy to call so far, but regardless, we’re not sad about the way we’ve kicked things off.

Things might get a bit tricky on Thursday night, as three series shift to the underdog’s home stadium. The Celtics, Pelicans and Bucks are all candidates to get swept if they don’t win tonight, but now that they’re all on their home floor, they also have a chance to get their first win of the playoffs. The question is, which ones will get a win – if any? Let’s break down all three matchups and hand in our NBA picks for Thursday, 4/23/2015:

Cleveland Cavaliers (2) @ Boston Celtics (7)

Boston kept game two fairly close, but for the second game in a row just couldn’t handle the Cavs in the fourth quarter when it mattered most. Experts were worried about Cleveland having enough experience to do damage in the playoffs this year, but it’s the Celtics who lack the killer instinct. Boston might have a tiny edge when the series shifts back to their house tonight, but LeBron James has his guys realizing that they have to step their game up for game three. Look for them to do that as they get one step closer to a 4-0 sweep.

Pick: Cavs 109, Celtics 102

Chicago Bulls (3) @ Milwaukee Bucks (6)

Milwaukee’s defense keeps them around early but their offense fails them late. That’s been the story as they’ve gone down two games to none against the Bulls and it’s probably going to stay that way in Milwaukee. Chicago actually plays much better on the road by the numbers this year and Michael Carter-Williams has been ice cold. On the other side, he can’t seem to contain Derrick Rose. Rose appears to be ready for a deep run and is in a groove, so it’s hard to see Chicago faltering. They will be without Nikola Mirotic for game three, but his minutes were already limited so the Bulls shouldn’t skip a beat.

Pick: Bulls 104, Bucks 98

Golden State Warriors (1) @ New Orleans Pelicans (8)

I’m not seeing the home teams finding much luck tonight. All three of these series are mismatches, while the Pelicans specifically are hanging by a thread. Tyreke Evans isn’t 100%, Jrue Holiday is ailing and may miss a second straight game and Ryan Anderson has given them nothing. It’s basically Anthony Davis all by himself and that’s not going to beat the Warriors. Golden State is much more vulnerable on the road, but this is still the most balanced and most explosive team in the league we’re talking about. The Pellies might stave off a sweep in game four, but Golden State is going to push them to the brink tonight.

Pick: Warriors 108, Pellies 104

New Jersey Nets vs. Miami Heat

NBA Playoff Picks For Wednesday, 4/22

The Toronto Raptors needed to win badly last night. They didn’t. We locked down our other two picks on Tuesday night, but the Raptors failed us (and themselves) as they fell into an ugly 2-0 hole against the Washington Wizards. That should make them strong bets to win in game three with their backs against the wall, but the way they played in game two could also open the door to the Wiz pulling out the broom and getting the sweep. We could see some sweep action in the Hawks/Nets series potentially, too, although Brooklyn stormed back late in game one – enough so that we’re a tad worried about them winning at least one game.

That matchup is just one of three to hit the hardwood tonight, so we’re back at the grind as we hammer out some more NBA picks. Our 2-1 record combines with our 9-1 mark and we prepare for a 3-0 Wednesday night with our 11-2 playoff record on the line:

Brooklyn Nets (8) @ Atlanta Hawks (1)

The Nets till try to steal a win in Atlanta tonight after closing out a game one loss with a strong finish. We probably want to take the Nets somewhat seriously, given that the Hawks are pretty banged up. Both Al Horford (finger) and Paul Millsap (shoulder) aren’t quite 100% and if the Nets play at their best, they could present a problem. That being said, if Brooklyn wins a game in this series, it’s probably coming at the Barclays Center. The Nets aren’t very good on the road usually and Atlanta has been very strong at home all season. In addition, Atlanta plays much better defense and is the much more consistent and efficient team on offense, as well. I can see the Nets maybe getting one win later in the series, but tonight they’re headed for a 2-0 hole.

Pick: Hawks 107, Nets 101

Portland Trail Blazers (5) @ Memphis Grizzlies (4)

We probably shouldn’t have been all that surprised that Memphis houses the Blazers in game one. The Grizzlies are tough at home, are much healthier and are currently the vastly superior team on defense. Memphis won’t run away with this series thanks to Portland’s offense and ability to win games at home, but they’ll still probably take the series by winning all of their games in Memphis. I expect the Blazers to come out and actually give a strong fight in game two, though, especially with Arron Afflalo due back. That being said, they are beaten down and without Wes Matthews they just aren’t an elite defense anymore. C.J. McCallum also proved in game one that he may not be ready for the big stage just yet.

Pick: Grizz 105, Blazers 102

San Antonio Spurs (6) @ Los Angeles Clippers (3)

Don’t call it an upset, but the sixth seeded Spurs are a near-lock to turn around and take down the Clippers to even this series up, 1-1. L.A. played almost flawlessly in game one and looked like the favorite to take this series in less than seven games, but that’s only if that rendition of Lob City continues to show up. If the Clips can’t repeat that effort tonight they could run into a brick wall, as Tim Duncan and the Spurs are sure to respond with a vengeance. The key may be who Kawhi Leonard defends, as both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin dominated at will to start the series. Look for San Antonio to match him up on one or both during the game to throw them off. If that’s successful, the Spurs should get the win to help make this the top series to watch for the rest of the playoffs.

Pick: Spurs 104, Clips 97

Raptors vs. Nets

NBA Playoff Picks For Tuesday Night

The first round of the 2015 NBA playoffs might be a good time to lay down a ton of cash via NBA betting. That is, if you’re using our daily NBA picks, at least. We’re running through the first few games with a high success rate so far, as we went 2-0 last night and have a staggering 9-1 record through the first three days of playoff action. Things might get a little tricky tonight with three games hitting the schedule, however, especially when you factor in that one is between the Wizards and Raptors (OT game in game one).

Let’s see just how tricky picking the NBA games is as we break down all three matchups for Tuesday night:

Boston Celtics (7) @ Cleveland Cavaliers (2)

This is the one of the easier series to pick, as Cleveland has an elite offense and plays much better defense than Boston can dream of. The Celtics dropped 100 points on Cleveland last game but they still lost by 13, which makes me think that even when they’re on fire they might not be able to truly hang with the Cavs. Boston could have a shot at snagging one game in this series, but if that happens it’ll undoubtedly come in Boston. Look for them to go down 2-0 tonight thanks to a big performance from LeBron James.

Pick: Cavs 112, Celtics 103

Washington Wizards (5) @ Toronto Raptors (4)

This is the toughest series of the first round to pick (in the East, at least) and we already got it right when the Wiz stole game one in Toronto. The Wiz are the better defensive team and they ground out a tough win, but the Raptors are probably too good to sink into an 0-2 hole. They’re at home, Paul Pierce is ailing and their backs are somewhat against the wall. Look for big games out of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan as the Raps tie this thing back up.

Pick: Raptors 106, Wizards 101

Dallas Mavericks (7) @ Houston Rockets (2)

Dallas has the offense to threaten the Rockets, but I’m not so sure they have the health or the defense. I also don’t know if the Rockets will crumble at home at any point in this series, and after closing out game one strong, I doubt they’ll crack under the pressure in game two, either. James Harden can score at will in this matchup ad as long as Dwight Howard can avoid foul trouble, Houston should win the battle of the paint, as well. Chandler Parsons could have been the x-factor in this series for the Mavs (knee) but he’s not 100%. Even if he plays in this game, he won’t bring enough to help Dallas get the road upset.

Pick: Rockets 108, Mavs 104

NBA Playoff Picks For Monday, 4/20

The 2015 NBA Playoffs got everyone started with a clean slate. Through the first two days of the “new” NBA season, we nailed one upset pick and missed another. In the end, if you followed our daily NBA picks over the weekend, you probably won a fistful of dollars during our 7-1 run to get the ball rolling.

Things quiet down on Monday as the playoffs begin to stagger games, but we can still win some cash via NBA betting. We need to be somewhat concerned about those dangerous game two’s, where road teams historically can come in and steal a win out of nowhere. I don’t know if I really see it with tonight’s two matchups, but they’re still worth breaking down. Join us as we take a quick look at tonight’s NBA games and see who might escape with a win:

Milwaukee Bucks (6) @ Chicago Bulls (3) 8:00 pm ET on TNT

Milwaukee plays enough defense and has a solid team-style brand of offense that could give them a shot at stealing a win at some point in this series. However, they didn’t have much of an answer for either Derrick Rose or Jimmy Butler in game one, while Michael Carter-Williams wasn’t really himself on either end. Chicago also won by 12 despite getting a really inefficient game from Pau Gasol, who missed a ton of shots. Against a fairly weak interior defense, I can’t see Gasol coming up that lame again in this series, especially at home. The Bucks are going to need everything to fall into place to get even one win in this series and if they can’t be more efficient on offense (shot just 39% in game one), they won’t stand a chance of winning a road game. Because of that, I like the Bulls to win again tonight and at least take the series in five games, if not get a complete sweep.

Pick: Bulls 104, Bucks 94

New Orleans Pelicans (8) @ Golden State Warriors (1) 10:30 pm ET on TNT

I said earlier that I could see the Warriors sweeping the Pellies in this series and nothing has changed despite New Orleans keeping the first game interesting. The reality is the Pelicans just can’t defend at Golden State’s level and their offense isn’t as consistent or nearly explosive enough to match what the Warriors do. It took a near-perfect game from Anthony Davis and a random big game from Quincy Pondexter to get the Pelicans back in the game in the first clash and that’s not going to be easily repeated in this series. Specifically for game two, the Pellies are rolling in with Tyreke Evans (knee) iffy and Jrue Holiday (leg) still not quite himself. And now we’re supposed to pull for them to go in and beat the Warriors at Oracle Arena? Golden State has lost two games at home all year. It’s just not going to happen.

Pick: Warriors 109, Pelicans 101

Amir Khan-Chris Algieri Match Set for May 29th

Amir Khan will return to the ring on May 29th to face fellow former junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri in a bout that will headline a Spike TV televised fight card. According to a press release by Premiere Boxing Champions last Wednesday, the fight will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

On a Roll

The fight will mark Khan’s first ring appearance of the year. The 28-year old Bolton, England native is coming off a one sided unanimous decision win over American Devon Alexander last December 13th to win the token WBC Silver welterweight title.

The win over Alexander was his fourth straight overall and under the tutelage of the world famous Virgil Hunter. Khan changed trainers after losing back to back bouts to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia. Khan won his first world title in 209 when he outpointed Andreas Kotelnik to win the WBA light welterweight title. Khan successfully defended the belt four times and then unified it with IBF version after knocking out Zab Judah in 2011.

Chasing Mayweather

Since losing to Danny Garcia, Khan moved up to 147 pounds in search of a big money fight against former Freddie Roach stable-mate Manny Pacquiao and Pound for Pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr., who incidentally will be finally facing each other on May 2nd in Las Vegas.

After beating Julio Diaz in April of 2013, Khan sought a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr but instead, Mayweather chose to fight Canelo Alvarez in his last fight of 2013. Despite being spurned, Khan was included in an online poll conducted by Mayweather himself to determine his next opponent. Khan unofficially won the poll, but was rejected by Mayweather two more times as the Money Man chose to fight Argentinian slugger Marcos Maidana twice last year. Once again left out in favor of Pacquiao, Khan hopes a big win over Algieri will put him in line to face the Mayweather-Pacquiao winner late this year.

New York’s Own

Chris Algieri rose to boxing prominence when he upset former WBO Junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov in June of 2014. In what was considered as the biggest upsets of 2014, Algieri fought Provodnikov with virtually one eye for more than half of the fight and survived an early onslaught from the hard-hitting Siberian Rocky. The win over Provodnikov would become his meal ticket to fighting Manny Pacquiao last November in Macau, China. Pacquiao dominated Algieri for 12 rounds but he couldn’t put away the gritty American.

New York isn’t only Algieri’s home town, as it is a significant place for both fighters. Algieri, the Huntington, New York native, will be fighting at the site where he beat Provodnikov last year while Khan also returns to New York where he made his successful US debut in 2010 when he beat Paulie Malignaggi.

2015 NBA Playoffs: Predicting Sunday’s Games

Saturday got the ball rolling in the 2015 NBA playoffs and if what we saw last night was any indication, we’re in for a wild ride. The craziness likely will ensue, as the other eight teams in the tourney get the action going again on Sunday. We have four more matchups to look over, so let’s break them down and see which teams are worth betting on:

Boston Celtics (7) @ Cleveland Cavaliers (2)

Boston’s last two games against the Cavs probably can’t be counted, as Cleveland was limiting and resting key players. Boston did give the Cavs one tough fight earlier in the year when the Cavs were at full strength, but overall Cleveland is easily the better team and at home. The Celtics can bring it offensively, though, so a shootout could favor them. Ultimately, the Cavs are too good and too well rested to blow the first game of the series, however.

Pick: Cavs 109, Celtics 102

Brooklyn Nets (8) @ Atlanta Hawks (1)

I really like how the Hawks move the ball and play a team style on both ends of the floor. I also think actually having a healthy Al Horford is their biggest key to their success, and he could be huge in shutting down Brooklyn’s offense, which happens to run through Brook Lopez. It’s probably pretty telling that Atlanta absolutely smoked the Nets twice and took all four games during the regular season. I don’t love that the Hawks rested their guys so much and slightly faded a bit down the stretch, but they should be 100% and ready to rock at home to get this series going. Brooklyn has a lot of veteran experience and has a slim chance of being a sneaky pick in this series, but the smart odds might be on them not even winning a game.

Pick: Hawks 106, Nets 95

Memphis Grizzlies (5) @ Portland Trail Blazers (4)

Memphis is banged up and their offense is unpredictable, but I like them tonight. Portland’s defensive intensity isn’t nearly as good with Wes Matthews gone (Achilles), while I doubt Robin Lopez can handle Marc Gasol down low. LaMarcus Aldridge is going to need to be huge in this one, too, as Mike Conley could slow down Damian Lillard. Portland’s fading bench is what kills them the most here, and in a potential defensive battle I favor the Grizz’s tenacity. It also doesn’t hurt that Memphis owned Portland (4-0) during the regular season.

Pick: Grizz 101, Blazers 94

San Antonio Spurs (6) @ Los Angeles Clippers (3)

There’s something about the Clippers that’s hard to dislike, as they play a fun brand of offensive basketball and carry a swagger about them. That may not matter when the Spurs come to town, however, as San Antonio probably has the edge in about every way. If L.A. can slip past the Spurs I think they’ll be a dangerous team in the playoffs, but doing that is definitely easier said than done. These two split the season series (2-2), but the Spurs are the veteran squad and the defending champs. If you’re looking for a road team to win tonight, they’re the likely lock.

Pick: Spurs 104, Clippers 99

Coach Jason Kidd

NBA Playoff Picks For Saturday, 4/18

It’s been a long two days but finally the NBA is back on Saturday with four intense matchups on the schedule. We’re leaving our regular season NBA picks at the door (we nailed 67% of them) and starting with a fresh 0-0 slate for the NBA playoffs. Let’s see if we can’t get off to a hot 4-0 start as we get the ball rolling:

Washington Wizards (5) @ Toronto Raptors (4)

I don’t feel great about road teams to get the playoffs started, particularly because the NBA playoffs tend to go a while before a road team wins a game. That old saying “the playoffs don’t start until someone wins a game on the road” is kind of true, as the only way an upset can happen is by a road team stealing a win. I think it’s unlikely it happens on Saturday, but if anyone is going to do it, it’s probably the Wiz. Washington lost all three games to the Raptors this year, but one was in overtime and the other was by two points. These teams matchup really well and John Wall is a little healthier than Kyle Lowry at the moment. Washington is also the better defensive team by a mile and has the inside forces to get Toronto’s bigs in foul trouble.

Pick: Wiz 102, Raptors 98

New Orleans Pelicans (8) @ Golden State Warriors (1)

New Orleans may be a sneaky, sexy pick to get an upset over the Warriors in game one, but that’d include winning in Oracle Arena. The Warriors have lost at home twice all year, so I’m not about to pick them losing to the 8th seed on their own floor to get what amounts to a potential title run started. The Pellies took the Warriors to OT in one game and stole one win out of four contests, but they’re beyond over-matched.

Pick: Warriors 106, Pelicans 97

Milwaukee Bucks (6) @ Chicago Bulls (3)

Chicago is one of the more interesting teams in the playoffs, considering we have no clue who they are due to so many injuries during the year. Derrick Rose has returned (for the moment) and it looks like we might actually get a strong run from this Bulls team. They play host to the Bucks on Saturday, who they topped during the season, three games to one. Milwaukee can defend and should get up for a big series against a divisional rival, but Chicago is the better team. Milwaukee could be sneaky at some point in this series, but it’s doubtful they jump out with a 1-0 lead.

Pick: Bulls 105, Bucks 101

Dallas Mavericks (7) @ Houston Rockets (2)

This series is going to be intense. Houston took the season series (3-1), but two of those wins were by less than five points and in Houston. There is a fun underlying storyline to this one, too, as Chandler Parsons felt he got burned by the Rockets, who didn’t match the offer sheet he signed with the Mavs in free agency this past summer. The only problem is, he has a sore knee and might not be ready for game one (or play at all in this series).

While Dallas is a tad banged up, the Rockets have been ravaged by injuries with Patrick Beverley possibly out and Donatas Motiejunas done for the year. Dwight Howard is healthy, though, so the Rockets look like the clear favorite to handle the Mavs in this series. Even if Dallas does end up giving them a fight, I still think James Harden and co. get off to a great start by going up, 1-0.

Pick: Rockets 107, Mavs 104
