NBA Preview and Picks For Wednesday, 1/28

The Warriors dared to lose at home, Derrick Rose delivered a game-winner and no home teams won as we staggered to a 3-3 mark on Tuesday night (379-194 on the year). Zero home wins on a six-game night is almost a feat, as was Rose’s 11 turnovers and 20 misses. It was a pretty great night, one that also included a banged up John Wall nearly triple-doubling en route to guiding the Wizards to a 19-point comeback win in L.A.

And that was Tuesday. The big NBA Wednesday arrives with a whopping 11 games hitting the schedule, and we have the fun of trying to pick them correctly. We have some revenge factoring into two games, Atlanta’s awesome 16-game winning streak is put on the line and three huge clashes are also on the docket. Let’s get started:

Blazers @ Cavaliers

We learned the hard way last night that home teams don’t always win games they’re supposed to, so taking Cleveland over the Blazers it tough. The Cavs have ripped off seven straight wins, though, while Nicolas Batum (wrist) and LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb) aren’t 100%. A dog fight like this is a great way to get Wednesday started, but we’ll pick the Cavs to keep the winning streak alive.

Pick: Cavs 109, Blazers 106

Pistons @ 76ers

Detroit has stumbled to three straight losses and is going to sorely miss Brandon Jennings, but D.J. Augustin has been more than competent in his place so Detroit could still march toward a playoff spot. Even if they don’t, they can top the talent-starved Sixers on Wednesday.

Pick: Pistons 104, 76ers 97

Kings @ Raptors

Toronto has quietly pieced together three straight wins and it has a lot to do with DeMar DeRozan being more like himself. DeMarcus Cousins is going to be a problem for them tonight, but Toronto seems to be putting things back together and they’re 17-7 at home.

Pick: Raptors 105, Kings 103

Nets @ Hawks

Brooklyn has lost eight of their last 10 and just isn’t playing good basketball right now, so it’s foolish to think they’re going to be the team to disrupt Atlanta’s killer 16-game winning streak. In Atlanta, no less.

Pick: Hawks 107, Nets 101

Nuggets @ Pelicans

The Pellies have a quiet four-game run going and are now three games above .500, which suddenly has them in the conversation for the last spot in the West playoff race. They’re an improving and balanced squad and tonight they host a reeling Nuggets team (losers of seven straight), so they’re the easy pick.

Pick: Pellies 109, Nuggets 107

Celtics @ Timberwolves

Minnesota is getting healthier by the day but they’ve still dropped five straight. The good news is Boston has lost talent via trades and will be on the road tonight. The T’Wolves have a solid shot at getting their eighth win of the year tonight.

Pick: T’Wolves 105, Celtics 104

Mavericks @ Rockets

In easily one of the best games of the night, the 30-16 Mavs head to Houston to take on the 31-14 Rockets. Dwight Howard could be out, while Chandler Parsons may be out for some revenge in this one. James Harden shredded Dallas last time out, but the Mavs have lost three straight and that bad spell has to dry up eventually.

Pick: Mavs 112, Rockets 110

Thunder @ Knicks

OKC has slowly been turning things around and they get a gimme game tonight in New York. Even if Carmelo Anthony takes the court (knee), you have to like the Thunder.

Pick: Thunder 106, Knicks 99

Hornets @ Spurs

Al Jefferson is back in the starting lineup, but Kemba Walker is out for a while and this one is in San Antonio. It’s hard to imagine a Brian Roberts-led Charlotte squad storming into San Antonio and topping the Spurs.

Pick: Spurs 104, Hornets 97

Clippers @ Jazz

L.A. has topped Utah in all three matchups this year, winning all three games fairly convincingly. Utah doesn’t even normally play all that great at home, so the Clippers should look for the clean 4-0 sweep tonight.

Pick: Clips 108, Jazz 102

Wizards @ Suns

John Wall and co. are fresh off of a comeback win over the Lakers last night, so it’s possible they’re too tired to effectively run with the Suns. Phoenix, meanwhile, has won six of their last 10 thanks to exceptional guard play.

Pick: Suns 106, Wizards 104

Jimmy Butler Bulls

NBA Picks For Tuesday, 1/27

Jamal Crawford did his best Klay Thompson impression to cap a solid Monday night that had all but one NBA home team win. That helped us to a 4-1 mark on the night (376-191 on the year) and hopefully helped you win some cash in the process.

If not, we all have another chance to do just that on Tuesday, as six more games come our way. All but two of tonight’s contests are fairly evenly matched, which could make our NBA picks for Tuesday a bit tougher than on Monday. Let’s break down all six games to see which teams we should be siding with:

Bucks @ Heat

Milwaukee and Miami have very similar records, but the Heat will be searching for their first win between these two tonight in South Beach. Milwaukee took the first two meetings, but Miami has found a budding star in block artist Hassan Whiteside and could start to morph into a more consistent playoff contender. They’ve won two straight, so we’ll take the odds of them winning a third and getting their first win of the year over the visiting Bucks.

Pick: Heat 102, Bucks 98

Grizzlies @ Mavericks

The battle for the West’s Southeastern division could be a long and grueling one, as three teams are separated by 2.5 games and all are within striking distance of first place. Memphis and Dallas are two of them, so this is obviously a huge game for both squads. The Grizz hang their hat on defense, while the Mavs can control the pace with a very aggressive offense. Playing at home, we like Dallas tonight.

Pick: Mavs 109, Grizz 107

Bulls @ Warriors

Chicago got worked by 10 last time they faced the Warriors, who happen to be the best team in basketball right now, as well as pretty unbeatable at home. The game is in Golden State, so it’s really hard to consider taking the Bulls as a smart choice.

Pick: Warriors 106, Bulls 103

Raptors @ Pacers

Indy just snapped an ugly six-game losing skid and is at home tonight, but they’ll be without C.J. Miles and host a pretty talented Toronto bunch. The Raptors aren’t as fierce on defense as they were earlier in the year, but DeMar DeRozan is coming along finally and this is still a very good, balanced team. They should look to win their third straight tonight.

Pick: Raptors 104, Pacers 94

Cavaliers @ Pistons

Detroit has made major strides in the past month or so, but losing star point guard Brandon Jennings is a huge blow. D.J. Augustin can hold his own and the Pistons will fight hard, but that may not be enough at home against a Cavs team (winners of six straight) that seems to finally be putting the pieces together.

Pick: Cavs 112, Pistons 108

Wizards @ Lakers

John Wall gets a treat tonight as he faces a Lakers defense that is terrible in general, but specifically struggles against point guards. That should allow him to get some easy buckets, and also set up his teammates in a game that figures to largely be over by the half.

Pick: Wizards 109, Lakers 92

Kevin Durant

NBA Picks For Monday, 1/26

The Mavs couldn’t beat the Pellies and Orlando lost to the Pacers, but we still escaped Sunday night with a stellar 7-2 finish. That solid showing brought us to 372-190 on the year and we’ll try to pick things up even more as we get ready for a fun Monday night of NBA action.

NBA bettors could be a little annoyed by two games getting cancelled due to poor weather (Kings/Knicks and Blazers/Nets), but we still have a fun night ahead with five games to pick. Let’s get to it:

Magic @ Grizzlies

Memphis took care of the Magic in their first meeting and they will probably do the same with this one on their home floor tonight. The Grizz are more talented and more balanced than Orlando, who are giving up over 101 points per game. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol shall feast in a win tonight.

Pick: Grizz 106, Magic 98

Celtics @ Jazz

Two fairly evenly matched teams butt heads when the Celtics travel to Utah. Dante Exum continues his run as Utah’s new starting point guard, while Boston will be without Marcus Smart and possibly even Avery Bradley. The Jazz haven’t been great at home, but they have the slight advantage tonight with this one on their turf.

Pick: Jazz 101, Celtics 99

76ers @ Pelicans

Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten are both on the shelf tonight, leaving Larry Drew II trying to pick up the pieces on the road. Philly is in major trouble tonight.

Pick: Pelicans 109, Sixers 88

Timberwolves @ Thunder

OKC has dropped two straight games and the Timberwolves are slowly getting healthier, so we could be in for a fairly competitive game tonight. Nikola Pekovic should continue to start and if Andrew Wiggins can bring his A game, Minny can give the Thunder a run for their money. The T’Wolves have still lost four straight and face a stiff challenge on the road, though, where Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant will be looking to keep their team from sliding into a third straight loss. It’s hard to not like OKC here.

Pick: Thunder 111, T’Wolves 104

Nuggets @ Clippers

The final game of the night has Ty Lawson and the Nuggets heading to the Staples Center, where they could take a 2-0 series lead over the Clips. Los Angeles lost in Denver by three, but they’re much more disciplined on their home floor. Fans can probably expect another high-scoring affair, but look for Lob City to get the last laugh this time.

Pick: Clippers 106, Nuggets 104

Dirk Nowitzki

NBA Picks and Preview For Sunday, 1/25

We bypassed Sunday’s early NBA games (and thank God, since the Heat upset the Bulls in Chicago), but that’s just two games we have to remove from today’s NBA picks. Odds are you didn’t place bets on the early contests anyways, so we’re hear to get you ready for the rest of the night (which is still pretty loaded, even without the two extra games).

Most of these games appear to be gimme picks, but they still deserve to be run through. Let’s break them down and find a winner as we stroll into Sunday night fresh off of a nice 4-1 run last night (brings us to 365-188 on the year):

Mavericks @ Pelicans

Anthony Davis is always a handful, but he’ll be fighting an uphill battle when the Pellies host the Mavs tonight, given that Dallas is up 2-0 in the season series. New Orleans will have to try to take down the Mavs without Jrue Holiday, too, so the odds might be in favor of Dallas.

Pick: Mavs 105, Pellies 102

Pacers @ Magic

Indiana got the best of the Magic in their first meeting, but the two teams appear to be on even ground heading into Sunday night’s matchup in Orlando. The Magic are at full strength and get to play host, while Indy comes in with a rough seven-game losing streak. If the Magic can keep center Roy Hibbert from somehow taking over this game, they should be able to get the win.

Pick: Magic 103, Pacers 99

Clippers @ Suns

Fans can expect lots of offense tonight when the Clips take on the Suns in Phoenix, as neither team has dipped below 107 points in two contests on the year. L.A. won both battles in Los Angeles, but they were close and rather intense (the latter being in OT), so we like the Suns to finally steal one in the desert.

Pick: Suns 107, Clippers 105

Bucks @ Spurs

Milwaukee can be pesky at times, but pesky won’t always do the trick when you try to go into San Antonio and get a tough road win. The Spurs are back to full strength and are usually solid at home, so the Bucks could be in some trouble.

Pick: Spurs 101, Bucks 98

Timberwolves @ Hawks

Atlanta has won 15 straight and is 19-3 at home. We don’t even have to dive into the fact that Minnesota has won just seven games all year. Do we?

Pick: Hawks 111, T’Wolves 94

Pistons @ Raptors

Detroit just lost Brandon Jennings (Achilles) for the year, so they could be down a bit on the second of a back to back. It’s also on the road, where the Raptors are 16-7 this season. Advantage: Toronto.

Pick: Raptors 106, Pistons 101

Wizards @ Nuggets

Washington had a tough loss in Portland last night and could be a little tired, but the Nuggets have dropped five in a row and could be without Ty Lawson for the second straight game.

Pick: Wiz 104, Nuggets 98

Celtics @ Warriors

Boston has been better thanks to some lineup changes, but they are severely under-manned and the Warriors are insanely good at home.

Pick: Warriors 110, Celtics 100

Rockets @ Lakers

Dwight Howard is probably out, but James Harden carries the Rockets well and no Kobe Bryant isn’t exactly a great thing. The Lakers could randomly keep this one close with it being at the Staples Center, but it’s hard not to like Houston tonight.

Pick: Rockets 106, Lakers 103

Rockets vs. Trail Blazers

NBA Picks and Analysis For Saturday, 1/24

Every now and again NBA fans are blessed with an explosive night of basketball, one that may even yield historic results. Friday night was such a night, as Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson had the best individual performance in one quarter in NBA history. More specifically, he connected on 13 of 13 shots for an NBA record 37 points. That insane performance took a 58-58 tie and blew the game wide open, giving the Warriors a blowout win at home over the Sacramento Kings. Thompson ended with an NBA season-high 52 points, and all we could do is sit back and take it in.

That’s history, and it was double the fun as it helped the Warriors win you money if you picked them over the Kings. It certainly would have if you followed our Friday night NBA picks column, although we could only muster a mediocre 6-5 record on the jam-packed 11 game night. Of course, that’s also partially to blame for the Knicks somehow winning a third straight game, the Mavericks losing at home and the Suns getting dropped by a last-second shot by James Harden. Had luck gone slightly the other (more logical) way, we would have had a nice 9-2 record on what ended up being a pretty crazy night.

That’s how it goes sometimes, however, and you have to roll with the punches. We still have a solid 361-187 season record to lean on and we’ll put it to work on a five-game Saturday night:

Pistons @ Bucks

Detroit is climbing fast up the ranks in the East, winning seven of their last 10 and now going toe to toe with the rival Bucks for the fourth time this year. Milwaukee took two of the first three battles, but all of those games came back in November, before the Pistons cut Josh Smith loose. Milwaukee has a slight edge at home, but the key difference is Jabari Parker and Larry Sanders are both absent. Look for an improved Pistons squad to even the series as they try to get closer to a playoff spot.

Pick: Pistons 101, Bucks 98

Nets @ Jazz

Brooklyn enters Utah tonight trying to turn around an awful stretch where they’ve won just two times in their last 10 contests. The Jazz play host, but they can’t be too encouraged by their recent history either, while they’re just 7-12 on their home floor. Utah is letting Dante Exum take over at the point and gets Derrick Favors back, so they might be carrying some momentum at home tonight.

Pick: Jazz 104, Nets 102

Knicks @ Hornets

New York has strung together three straight wins now, and we’ve only picked one of them correctly. That makes tonight really tough to call, especially since they get a beatable Hornets team that just got absolutely blasted by the Cavaliers. It’s the second of a back to back, it’s on the road and Carmelo Anthony (knee) could easily be rested. Overall, a fourth win in a row isn’t overly likely for New York.

Pick: Hornets 90, Knicks 87

76ers @ Grizzlies

Memphis enters tonight’s matchup with a clear advantage, and it’s three-pronged. They have more talent, they have the better record and they’re at home. The Sixers actually played them all the way into overtime earlier this year, but duplicating that performance will be almost impossible. Look for Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol have their way down low all night.

Pick: Grizz 111, 76ers 95

Wizards @ Trail Blazers

The odds shall change. LaMarcus Aldridge was supposed to be out 6-8 weeks with a thumb injury, but he’s delayed that and will suit up tonight against the Wiz. Portland gets some scoring and strength back down low, which gives them a real shot at beating a balanced Washington squad at home. The Blazers will still be without Nicolas Batum (wrist) and are hurt at center, but they have enough to win at home, where they usually find a way to take care of business.

Pick: Blazers 109, Wiz 106

Kyrie Irving

Predicting Friday Night’s NBA Games For 1/23

The Spurs laid an egg in Chicago and Portland and Milwaukee lost at home to send us limping out of Thursday night with a shaky 1-3 record. San Antonio didn’t even show up against the Bulls, while the Blazers struggled without LaMarcus Aldridge and lost on a last second game-winner by Evan Turner, of all people. We’ll chalk last night up as bad luck and carry our still prominent 357-182 season record into a busy Friday night:

Magic @ Knicks

Carmelo Anthony looks healthy-ish and has been playing well, and the Knicks enter tonight’s home game with a nice two-game winning streak. Orlando does have Tobias Harris back and is far more talented, though, so it’s likely New York’s nice little run comes to a crashing halt.

Pick: Magic 99, Knicks 96

Bulls @ Mavericks

Chicago got a big win against the Spurs last night, but they could come in tired tonight when they take on a very good Dallas offense. The Mavs have won three straight and are on the brink of taking over first place in their division, while they are pretty tough at home, as well.

Pick: Mavs 106, Bulls 103

Rockets @ Suns

Dwight Howard hasn’t looked the best and the Rockets are just so-so over their last 10 games (6-4). Phoenix, meanwhile, plays host and has won four straight (plus 8 of last 10). If the Rockets don’t bring their A game tonight, the Suns could run them out of the gym.

Pick: Suns 111, Rockets 108

Raptors @ 76ers

Toronto hasn’t been themselves defensively for a while, but tonight’s game against Philly should be a nice gimme game. The Sixers are a respectable 4-6 (for them) over their last 10, but it’d be silly to pick them over a far more talented Raptors squad.

Pick: Raptors 109, Sixers 96

Thunder @ Hawks

Atlanta comes into tonight riding an insane 14-game winning streak, while they also boast a stout 18-3 home record. There is no shame in losing to the Thunder, though, who enter tonight’s action with four straight wins.

Pick: Thunder 106, Hawks 102

Hornets @ Cavaliers

Charlotte is finally back to full strength and a nice three-game winning streak shows it more than anything. They’re playing better defensively, but tonight they go into Cleveland, where the Cavaliers have suddenly morphed into a pretty decent squad. With four straight wins and far more star power, Cleveland holds the edge at home.

Pick: Cavs 104, Hornets 98

Pacers @ Heat

A slow-paced, defensive battle can be expected when the Heat and Pacers square off on Friday night. The Heat host this one in South Beach and look like the favorites with Indy reeling with six straight losses.

Pick: Heat 96, Pacers 89

Pelicans @ Timberwolves

Minnesota is starting to get healthy again, but they’re still missing some key players. New Orleans has to go to work without Jrue Holiday, but Tyreke Evans can man the point and Minny won’t have an answer for Anthony Davis down low.

Pick: Pellies 109, Timberwolves 98

Lakers @ Spurs

Kobe Bryant (shoulder) is out for this one and could be done for the year, while the Spurs could rest some stars after playing on Thursday. San Antonio is at home and is the better team, though, so regardless of who suits up they should get the win.

Pick: Spurs 108, Lakers 101

Celtics @ Nuggets

Boston just got a big win last night but they’ve been struggling overall on the year and have won just three games in their last 11 tries. Denver is solid at home and this matchup (no Kelly Olynyk) should give them a nice shot at putting an end to a four-game losing streak.

Pick: Nuggets 106, Celtics 104

Kings @ Warriors

DeMarcus Cousins hasn’t quite been elite against the Warriors this year and Golden State is virtually unstoppable on their home floor (one loss), so picking against them at home is just silly.

Pick: Warriors 108, Kings 101

Tim Duncan and Chris Bosh

NBA Picks For Thursday, 1/22

The Hawks kept their streak alive, the Knicks won two in a row and Kobe Bryant got hurt on a crazy Wednesday night where we went a stellar 10-2 on a 12-game night. We easily could have been 11-1 on the night, too, if it hadn’t been for a dramatic overtime win by the Thunder in D.C.

That’s the way the cards go sometimes, though, and overall anyone conducting NBA betting off of our daily NBA picks wasn’t saddened last night. Let’s get right back to it as we carry a stout 356-179 season mark into Thursday night’s four-game slate:

Spurs @ Bulls

Chicago hosts the Spurs in a teacher versus student battle in Chi-town. Derrick Rose made some public comments about the Bulls needing to give a better effort recently, and his team’s two-game skid has been proof that he may have a point. That can’t be said of San Antonio, though, who enter Chicago with four straight wins and Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and Tiago Splitter all at full strength.

Pick: Spurs 106, Bulls 104

Jazz @ Bucks

The Bucks host the Jazz tonight in what could be a defensive battle. Rudy Gobert has helped Utah drop it’s allowed scoring average below 100 points per game, while the Bucks have stuck right around 97 allowed points per game all year. This game really could go either way, but given Utah’s shaky 7-16 road record, it’s hard not to like the Bucks. Fear the deer tonight.

Pick: Bucks 97, Jazz 93

Celtics @ Trail Blazers

Portland is back at home after losing last night, but they’ll have to find a way to win without star big man, LaMarcus Aldridge. Big performances by Wes Matthews and Nicolas Batum offered optimism last night, so Portland should be fine against a Boston team that plays very little defense. Portland is also lights out at home (19-4).

Pick: Blazers 107, Celtics 102

Nets @ Clippers

Brooklyn enters the Staples Center tonight trying to build a two-game winning streak. It’d be a nice little run stemming from a rough past couple of weeks, where they won just two of their last 10 games. The Clippers, on the other hand, have won two straight and seven of their last 10. The Clips will host the struggling Nets with a solid 18-7 mark at home, too. Brooklyn’s only hope is that it’s sometimes solid defense (allowing 97 points per game) shows up, but that’s doubtful on the road against a team putting up nearly 107 points per game.

Pick: Clippers 104, Nets 97

Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard

NBA Preview and Picks For Wednesday, 1/21

The two teams we thought would win totally did on an easy Tuesday night, giving us a sweet 2-0 record (346-177 on the year) and sending us into a jammed up Wednesday night feeling unbeatable. That’s not the whole truth. We’ve been crushed on Wednesday’s before, but we still feel like we have a strong hold on our NBA picks and that you should lend an ear to our breakdown for tonight if you want to win some cash via NBA betting.

Let’s take a quick look at each contest and see who the best pick is for games on 1/21/2015:

Jazz @ Cavaliers

Utah seems to always play LeBron James well but the Cavs seem like a new team and host Gordon Hayward and co. riding three straight wins. The Jazz have lost six of their last 10 and are an abysmal 7-15 on the road, so they’re not the best upset pick tonight.

Pick: Cavs 106, Jazz 101

Magic @ Pistons

Detroit continues their climb up toward the final playoff spot in the East, as they’ll host the Magic after winning seven of their last 10. Orlando has been in a free fall, going just 2-8 over their last 10 and could again be without Tobias Harris.

Pick: Pistons 101, Magic 98

Mavericks @ Timberwolves

Minnesota has been mostly dreadful all year long and while they can score, they probably don’t stand much of a chance when the Mavericks come into town. Dallas is now on pace to steal first in the Southwest division and they’re not about to lose that with a loss in Minnesota.

Pick: Mavs 107, T’Wolves 103

Trail Blazers @ Suns

LaMarcus Aldridge is out and Portland isn’t quite as formidable on the road as they are at home, plus the Suns can run wild offensively. Portland can definitely still win tonight, but the odds favor the Suns in Phoenix.

Pick: Suns 107, Blazers 104

Knicks @ 76ers

Two terrible teams duke it out in Philadelphia tonight, making this a true toss up. These teams have just 14 wins between them and are playing for the bottom of the East’s Atlantic division. New York does have Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire back, so call us crazy, but we’ll take the Knicks to win two in a row. Oh, the horror.

Pick: Knicks 104, 76ers 102

Heat @ Hornets

Two slow-paced offenses wage war in Charlotte, with Al Jefferson playing off the bench and Kemba Walker possibly still out. The Heat are healthier at the moment, but the Hornets have been very solid over their last 10 games (7-3) and are at home. The Heat could be tired on the second of a back to back, too.

Pick: Hornets 91, Heat 86

Pacers @ Hawks

The Hawks are not a team to bet against right now as they carry a 13-game winning streak into a home game against a shaky Pacers club. It’ll be nice to pick that upset correctly when the streak finally snaps, but it’s not likely to be tonight.

Pick: Hawks 109, Pacers 101

Lakers @ Pelicans

Kobe Bryant and Anthony Davis both hope to return to their respective starting lineups tonight, which could help make this a watchable game. It shouldn’t be in doubt if The Brow suits up, though, as he’d give the Pellies a serious edge at home.

Pick: Pelicans 106, Lakers 99

Thunder @ Wizards

Kevin Durant returns to his home area to take on the Wiz, as both of these teams have small winning streaks going. OKC is back to playing sound basketball, but Washington’s stout 18-5 home record should scare off the upset picks.

Pick: Wiz 103, Thunder 102

Raptors @ Grizzlies

Toronto is trying to get back into form defensively with DeMar DeRozan healthy, but Memphis remains a stout defensive team and a handful at home. This should be a close game, but the Grizzlies have to be favored via the matchup and home court advantage.

Pick: Grizz 105, Raptors 102

Nets @ Kings

DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay have both been banged up, but both played in their last game and should be healthy when the Nets visit Sac-town on Wednesday. That should give the Kings a shot at snapping a four-game skid against a Nets team that has dropped eight of their last 10 and will be without Deron Williams.

Pick: Kings 109, Nets 106

Rockets @ Warriors

Possibly the game of the night caps Wednesday’s NBA action, when James Harden and the Rockets head into Golden State. Dwight Howard could be iffy for this one (knee), while Houston has lost all three games versus the Warriors this year. The games haven’t been all that close and Golden State has one loss at home all year, so a Warriors sweep is looking likely.

Pick: Warriors 107, Rockets 104

Durant Driving With Basketball

NBA Predictions For Tuesday, 1/20

The Knicks actually won a game, the Cavs kept rolling, the Warriors went nuts and home teams went a ridiculous 10-2 as we rode a nice 11-1 record on MLK Day. That lifted us to a strong 344-177 on the year and if it hadn’t been for the Knicks, we would have had a perfect night despite a litany of NBA contests.

We get a break the day after all of that chaos, as Tuesday offers just two NBA clashes, with the Heat and Thunder waging war and the Spurs and Nuggets capping things off. Let’s see if we can’t guide NBA bettors to a nice 2-0 sweep with our NBA picks for tonight:

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Miami Heat

After some ugly blowout losses, the Thunder seem to be back to playing true OKC basketball. Kevin Durant has specifically been playing fantastic ball lately and Oklahoma City will enter South Beach with a two-game winning streak. Dwyane Wade might sit out yet another game as he tries to get to 100% after hurting his hamstring, but even if he plays it’s going to take a huge effort for the Heat to dispatch the Thunder.

Pick: Thunder 102, Heat 97

San Antonio Spurs @ Denver Nuggets

Denver just got absolutely trounced by the Warriors on Monday night, so it could be tough for them to turn right around and defend their turf tonight. Make it against the defending champion Spurs, and it gets even tougher. The Nuggets can still match just about anyone when they’re running and gunning, but their poor interior defense could be a real problem if Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter are active (potential rest). They probably will be, which means San Antonio should be able to score down low with ease, and they’ll probably defend the post pretty well, too. The Spurs will want to make sure Ty Lawson doesn’t dictate the pace of this game, though, and if they can keep it under control they should get a nice road win.

Pick: Spurs 106, Nuggets 98

John Wall Driving

NBA Picks For Martin Luther King Junior Day

There’s always one team that seems to burn NBA bettors, and that team was the Pelicans on a light Sunday night. Tyreke Evans topped the Raptors in Toronto on a late drive to crush our dreams of a perfect night of NBA picks, but we still escaped with a solid 2-1 run. We aim for an even better outing with our NBA picks on Monday (which just so happens to be Martin Luther King Jr. Day), when we tackle a whopping 12 games and try to improve on our 335-176 season mark:

76ers @ Wizards

Philly is atrocious and brings a sorry 8-32 record into D.C, where the Wiz have lost just five times all year. Look for John Wall and the Wizards to lock the Sixers down at home.

Pick: Wiz 104, Sixers 94

Timberwolves @ Hornets

Al Jefferson will make his return off the bench this afternoon, but the Hornets host Minnesota still under-manned, as Kemba Walker (foot) may rest again. Either way, the Timberwolves are a mess and don’t normally win on the road, so it’s hard not to roll with Charlotte.

Pick: Hornets 97, T’Wolves 94

Pistons @ Hawks

Atlanta hosts the Pistons in a solid Eastern Conference battle between two of the league’s hottest teams. The Hawks have won a ridiculous 12 straight, though, and are already up 2-0 on Detroit. They’re the safer pick.

Pick: Hawks 107, Pistons 102

Celtics @ Clippers

Los Angeles has been a strong 7-3 over their last 10 and normally win at home, while the Celtics can’t defend and have dropped seven of their last 10. The Clips are the easy call.

Pick: Clippers 112, Celtics 108

Nuggets @ Warriors

Denver was winning for a bit but they’ve now dropped two straight and have to journey into Golden State, where teams rarely escape with a win. In fact, the Warriors have still lost just one game all year on their home floor, so the Nuggets aren’t a good team to roll with.

Pick: Warriors 109, Nuggets 105

Mavericks @ Grizzlies

Two losses separate the Mavs and Grizzlies in the race for first place in the brutally tough Southwest division, so tonight is a huge game for both of these teams. Luckily for Memphis it’s on their home floor, where they’re a stellar 16-4 on the year. Unfortunately, Mike Conley (ankles) might be out, so this one could lean in favor of Dallas.

Pick: Mavs 106, Grizzlies 104

Pacers @ Rockets

Houston hosts a struggling Pacers offense, although if Indy can slow the tempo down they could have a shot with Houston losing seven games at home this year. If Dwight Howard and James Harden bring their A game, though, this one shouldn’t be close.

Pick: Rockets 105, Pacers 97

Pelicans @ Knicks

Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday could both be out again tonight, but the Pellies won in Toronto without them on Sunday and this is the Knicks. Needless to say, we still have to side with the Pelicans, even on the road.

Pick: Pellies 105, Knicks 90

Bulls @ Cavaliers

A huge Eastern clash gets underway later tonight when Derrick Rose and the Bulls head to Cleveland to take down King James and the Cavs. Cleveland seems to be piecing things together with two straight wins, so now might not be the best time to bet against them at home, despite the difficult matchup.

Pick: Cavs 102, Bulls 101

Raptors @ Bucks

Toronto has been in a slide for the past month but they have to get it right eventually. The Bucks aren’t an easy road opponent, but the Raptors are still the more talented squad. With DeMar DeRozan playing in his fourth game back, the Raptors should be the favorites here.

Pick: Raptors 102, Bucks 98

Kings @ Trail Blazers

The Kings could be without either DeMarcus Cousins or Rudy Gay tonight, but their chances look bleak in Portland, either way. The Blazers are one of the more balanced teams in the entire league and are a blistering 18-4 on their home floor.

Pick: Blazers 108, Kings 104

Lakers @ Suns

L.A. is understandably in shambles and they’ll be tasked with keeping up with the Suns in the desert. That probably won’t go too well.

Pick: Suns 109, Lakers 104
