NBA Picks For Monday, 1/26

The Mavs couldn’t beat the Pellies and Orlando lost to the Pacers, but we still escaped Sunday night with a stellar 7-2 finish. That solid showing brought us to 372-190 on the year and we’ll try to pick things up even more as we get ready for a fun Monday night of NBA action.

NBA bettors could be a little annoyed by two games getting cancelled due to poor weather (Kings/Knicks and Blazers/Nets), but we still have a fun night ahead with five games to pick. Let’s get to it:

Magic @ Grizzlies

Memphis took care of the Magic in their first meeting and they will probably do the same with this one on their home floor tonight. The Grizz are more talented and more balanced than Orlando, who are giving up over 101 points per game. Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol shall feast in a win tonight.

Pick: Grizz 106, Magic 98

Celtics @ Jazz

Two fairly evenly matched teams butt heads when the Celtics travel to Utah. Dante Exum continues his run as Utah’s new starting point guard, while Boston will be without Marcus Smart and possibly even Avery Bradley. The Jazz haven’t been great at home, but they have the slight advantage tonight with this one on their turf.

Pick: Jazz 101, Celtics 99

76ers @ Pelicans

Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten are both on the shelf tonight, leaving Larry Drew II trying to pick up the pieces on the road. Philly is in major trouble tonight.

Pick: Pelicans 109, Sixers 88

Timberwolves @ Thunder

OKC has dropped two straight games and the Timberwolves are slowly getting healthier, so we could be in for a fairly competitive game tonight. Nikola Pekovic should continue to start and if Andrew Wiggins can bring his A game, Minny can give the Thunder a run for their money. The T’Wolves have still lost four straight and face a stiff challenge on the road, though, where Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant will be looking to keep their team from sliding into a third straight loss. It’s hard to not like OKC here.

Pick: Thunder 111, T’Wolves 104

Nuggets @ Clippers

The final game of the night has Ty Lawson and the Nuggets heading to the Staples Center, where they could take a 2-0 series lead over the Clips. Los Angeles lost in Denver by three, but they’re much more disciplined on their home floor. Fans can probably expect another high-scoring affair, but look for Lob City to get the last laugh this time.

Pick: Clippers 106, Nuggets 104
