The Suns only managed 69 points against the Hawks, Golden State lost again and the Spurs crushed the Thunder as we went a strong 5-1 on a light six-game night. The NBA action heats up on Big Wednesday, as a whopping 13 games hit the schedule. We brave the storm with our stout 682-345 season mark and throw caution to the wind as we try to correctly pick the busy slate:
Celtics @ Pistons
Detroit is probably out of the playoff picture, but they’re at home and Greg Monroe is due back for this conference showdown. Both clashes have headed into overtime and the series is tied, though, so we can probably expect a great game. Fans can chase the Total, while we’ll just barely side with the home team.
Pick: Pistons 105, Celtics 102
Bulls @ Magic
Chicago heads into Orlando with a 2-1 season series lead and should probably close it with a 3-1 series win. The Magic are at home and can compete with anyone, but the Bulls are still holding out hope for a division title. Derrick Rose could be back tonight, too, which could give the Bulls a big spark.
Pick: Bulls 109, Magic 104
Wizards @ 76ers
Washington isn’t great on the road and John Wall is sitting this one out, but this is still the Tankers we’re talking about. The Wiz won’t be the safest bet ever with Wall resting but they should still get the win.
Pick: Wiz 103, Sixers 94
Raptors @ Hornets
Charlotte is dying and Al Jefferson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist remain out. They’re at home and the Raps are without Kyle Lowry, but Toronto is without a doubt the better team right now.
Pick: Raptors 107, Hornets 96
Hawks @ Nets
Brooklyn got absolutely housed by the Hawks just a few days ago and them being at home won’t change much. Atlanta loses points if they rest guys, but they should be fine.
Pick: Hawks 104, Nets 90
Pacers @ Knicks
Paul George is back and the Pacers seem inspired. That doesn’t matter when you’re facing the Knicks, of course.
Pick: Pacers 106, Knicks 88
Cavaliers @ Bucks
Cleveland is trying to put the finishing touches on a division title, and while the Bucks could be pesky at home, LeBron and co. should find a way to take care of business.
Pick: Cavs 109, Bucks 103
Pelicans @ Grizzlies
New Orleans can taste the final playoff spot, but they’re going to need to win some tough games to lock it up. It starts tonight in Memphis, where the Grizz are a studly 29-10.
Pick: Grizzlies 101, Pellies 97
Rockets @ Spurs
Dwight Howard’s minutes rise as Houston tries to end San Antonio’s torrid eight-game winning streak. That should prove difficult on the road.
Pick: Spurs 104, Rockets 101
Lakers @ Nuggets
No defense here, folks, as Jordan Clarkson continues his development in Denver against the Nuggets. These are two really bad teams, but both can put up points. Denver gets the nod with the home court advantage and Ty Lawson almost certainly back in the lineup.
Pick: Nugs 105, Lakers 102
Kings @ Jazz
DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay are both out tonight, so don’t put much money on the Kings. Utah plays great defense and has turned into a strong home team. They might hold Sacramento below 70 tonight.
Pick: Jazz 89, Kings 69
Suns @ Mavericks
Phoenix has just about given up (69 points last night, ugh) and Dallas is solid at home. They’ll be without Chandler Parsons but they should be fine against the Suns. NBA bettors can chase the Total with two high powered offenses, though.
Pick: Mavs 111, Suns 106
Timberwolves @ Trail Blazers
Minnesota played a tight game last night and could be too tired to give the Blazers a good fight tonight. Portland usually wins at home against much tougher opponents, anyways.
Pick: Blazers 108, Wolves 101
