UFC 219: Cris Cyborg vs. Holly Holm Odds and Prediction

Cris Cyborg will defend the UFC women’s featherweight belt against Holly Holm at UFC 219 on December 30th, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The bout has been declared as the main event for UFC 219, ending speculation that Irish superstar Conor McGregor is going to make an appearance at the UFC’s final event of the year.

Odds Favor Cyborg

Cyborg won the featherweight belt after easily outclassing Tonya Evinger at UFC 214. The two fought for the vacant title after Germaine De Randamie forfeited the crown after beating Holly Holm at UFC 208. Holm, meanwhile, rebounded from the loss and defeated Bethe Correia in her next fight.

Cyborg is the favorite here at -334 while Holm is the underdog at +250. The line may look surprising to some especially those who say that Holm is moving up in weight to face a bigger Cyborg. But then Holm has fought before at higher weights. She fought as junior welterweight and welterweight as a boxer and kickboxer.

Two Elite Strikers

In MMA, Holly Holm fought as a bantamweight but she moved up to featherweight to face Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208 for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title. Holm lost that bout but controversially so, because she was on the receiving end of punches after the bell at the end of rounds two and three.

Cyborg vs. Holm is a battle between two elite strikers and when you have two powerful ladies like these squaring off against each other, all it takes is one strike to win the fight. Holm is the more disciplined fighter between the two and is slightly longer in reach. She has never been knocked out in her MMA career, but she also has never faced a monster like Cris Cyborg before.

On Another Level

Cyborg puts on a relentless pace and won’t stop until she sees her opponent down and out.

We saw some of her striking weaknesses when she sparred Olympic champion Claressa Shields and knowing that Holm is a world champion boxer you think she’d have Cyborg’s number in the stand up. Not only does Cyborg have to watch out for Holm’s punches, but she also has to be wary of Holly’s kicks. Holm uses leg kicks better than any fighter in the sport.

But Cyborg is on another level in terms of power and aggression. It’s these that’s going to make the difference here. Both fighters are going to land their shots in this fight. Each will have her moments and despite the power between these two, it’s hard to see a quick ending.

Both are durable and have good defense so this fight is likely going to go past round three. After the midway point though, Cyborg’s power and pressure should wear down Holm. If she doesn’t get a late stoppage, Cris Cyborg is going to win this by unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night 111: Can Holly Holm Snap Out of Her Losing Streak?

Holly Holm hopes to end a three-fight losing streak as she faces the tough Bethe Correia in the five round main event of UFC Fight Night 111 on June 17th, 2017 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Break The Streak

A former 8-time world boxing champion, Holly Holm was on top of the MMA world in 2015 after becoming the first fighter to defeat Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in Australia. Holm’s second round stoppage of Rousey won her the UFC women’s bantamweight title and opened up a lot of opportunities for her.

But instead of waiting for a Ronda Rousey rematch, Holm decided to fight Miesha Tate at UFC 196 in March of 2016. That turned out to be tragic, as Tate bucked the odds to submit Holm and take the title from her. Things turned for the worse as Holm lost her next bout to Valentina Shevchenko in July of 2016. She also lost to Germaine de Randamie in the first ever women’s featherweight title bout last February. With three straight losses standing in front of her, Holm looks to break the streak and get back on track.

Not The Same

Bethe Correia herself will be trying to get back on the winning track. After nine consecutive victories, she suffered her first defeat at the hands of Ronda Rousey. Since that loss, Correia has been just 1-1-1 in her last three bouts. She figured in a majority draw against Marion Reneau in her most recent bout last March. When in good form, Correia is an aggressive striker who has good combinations and excellent counter punching skills. The problem with her is that she’s never been the same since losing to Rousey, with just one win in three outings.

Same Fighting Style

Holm is the odds on favorite at -500, while Correia is the underdog at +400. But don’t let the lines deceive you. This is going to be a dogfight because both fighters have the same style. They both like to strike and employ leg kicks. Likewise, both are struggling to pick up victories in recent fights.

This may go down to who has more mental fortitude between the two. Holm and Correia look like they are shells of themselves at the moment. The big plus money on Correia is tempting but Holm does have a five inch reach advantage and may have more punching power.

With those advantages, we’re going with Holly Holm in this fight. Holly Holm is going to snap out of her losing streak with a unanimous decision win over Bethe Correia.

UFC 208: Holly Holm vs. Germaine De Randamie Odds and Prediction

The UFC will crown its inaugural women’s featherweight champion at the main event of UFC 208 on February 11th, 2017 at the Barclays Center in New York.

No Cyborg

After much thought and discussion, the UFC finally decided to create a 145-pound weight class for women. But surprisingly, the woman universally recognized as the best 145-pound fighter in the galaxy won’t be vying for the title.

Invicta FC featherweight Cris Cyborg is considered as the baddest woman on the planet. But Cyborg has been forced to fight at a catchweight of 140 pounds during her first two UFC bouts because the promotion doesn’t have a featherweight division. When the UFC finally created the division, Cyborg turned down the fight because she is still recovering from the brutal weight cut from her previous bout. With Cyborg out, the UFC decided it would be Holly Holm against Germaine De Randamie.

The Preacher’s Daughter

Holly Holm rose to superstardom when she upset Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 over a year ago. But just as the Preacher’s Daughter reached the top of the mountain, she fell off just as quickly. Holm immediately yielded the title to Miesha Tate in her first title defense at UFC 200. Then Holm lost again to top ranked bantamweight contender Valentina Shevchenko at UFC on Fox 20 last July of 2016.

Holm has fought at 135 pounds throughout her MMA career but the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion fought between 132-152 pounds as a world champion professional boxer. So, it’s still a weight that Holly Holm isn’t a stranger to.

Randamie is a former kickboxer and Strikeforce standout. The 32-year old Dutch is 4-1 in her last four bouts and is coming off a ‘Performance of the Night’ award against Anna Elmose. Randamie lost to current UFC women’s bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes in 2013 but has won two in a row, both by KO since. She has fought twice as a featherweight in her MMA career but has been a bantamweight since 2013. She will be making her first ever title fight appearance in any promotion.

The Odds

Randamie and Holm both opened at -115 apiece. But the lines have slightly moved to Randamie’s direction at -130 versus even money for Holm in recent days. This one’s an intriguing fight between two elite strikers who excel in different disciplines. Ranamie is a world class Muay Thai kickboxer who is excellent in the clinch and uses her length to dictate her fights. On the other hand, Holm is a former world champion professional boxer who uses her incomparable punching skills to dominate her opponents. Randamie has the better all around skills but this is really a pick ‘em. We’re going with even money and picking Holly Holm to beat Germaine De Randamie.
