Buffalo Bills vs Tennessee Titans 10/18/2021 NFL Odds, Preview, and Prediction

The Buffalo Bills make the trip to the Nissan Stadium this weekend to take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 7 of the 2021 NFL season.

Buffalo has gone red hot since losing their opening game of the season to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bills have won 4 in a row and are coming off a huge statement win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Buffalo has moved up to the top of the Super Bowl LVI odds boards and they are looking to continue their hot streak.

Tennessee’s two-game winning streak was halted by an upset loss to the lowly New York Jets but the team bounced back with a strong win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend. The Titans are 3-2 on the season and are on top of the struggling AFC South Division that has both the Texans and Jaguars.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills have looked like serious Super Bowl contenders early in the season. Not only have they taken care of business against teams they should beat but they stepped up their game last week when they faced the Kansas City Chiefs, beating the defending AFC Conference champions thoroughly in a beat down at Arrowhead Stadium.

Josh Allen completed 15 of 26 passes for 315 passing yards with three touchdowns. He also added 56 rushing yards with one TD run. Dawson Knox had three catches for 117 yards with one TD grab while Zack Moss had 11 carries for 37 yards.

Buffalo is scoring 34.4 points per game this season while averaging 270 passing yards with 140.4 rushing yards per game. Defensively, they are one of the best in the league, allowing just 12.8 points per game this season.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans have won three out of their last four games and if not for that letdown against the New York Jets, they would’ve had won four in a row by now. But Tennessee bounced back well from that humiliating loss to the Jets by beating up the Jaguars in their Week 5 schedule.

Ryan Tannehill had a mediocre game with 197 passing yards and one touchdown while completing 14 of 22 passes. Derrick Henry had another monster game with 130 rushing yards on 29 carries with 3 touchdown runs. Marcus Johnson led the receiving corps with three catches for 52 yards.

Tennessee is averaging 26.4 points per game while passing for 221.4 yards and rushing for 167.8 yards per game They are allowing a high 26 points per game this season but conceded only 19 points in their win against Jacksonville last week

Who Wins?

Buffalo is 12-2 SU in their last 14 games played. The Bills are 12-2 SU in their last 14 games against the AFC, and 2-0 SU in two road games played this season.

Tennessee is 7-2 SU in their last nine Monday games. The Titans are 9-4 SU in their last 13 games against the Bills. Tennessee is also 12-4 SU in their last 16 home games played against Buffalo.

The Bills avenged last season’s AFC title game against the Chiefs by thoroughly beating them at Arrowhead Stadium last weekend. Josh Allen hurt Kansas City with his arm and legs while their defense forced Patrick Mahomes to three turnovers, including two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

The biggest takeaway from that game is how their stars like Allen and Emmanuel Sanders responded to the win, saying it was just one win and we’re still in week 5 with a long season to go.

Interestingly, the Titans were one of the teams who were able to contain Allen last season, intercepting him twice while also holding him to just 18 rushing yards on four carries. Ryan Tannehill led the team with three touchdowns while rushing for 42 yards with a 10-run TD run. Tennessee is coming off a 37-19 rout of the Jaguars last week so they are ready for this important contest.

Buffalo has not allowed more than 21 points since their opening game loss to the Steelers. They have also scored at least 35 points in each of their last five games. Meanwhile, Tennessee has scored at least 25 points during their three wins and 24 or less in their two losses. With Buffalo’s defense playing at a high level right now, I expect them to limit the Titans’ scoring and Tennessee’s chances to win the game as well.

Prediction: Buffalo Bills

Other Bets to Make

Buffalo is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games played. The Bills are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games after a straight-up win of more than 14 points, 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games when scoring more than 30 points in their previous game, 8-2 in their last 10 games as betting favorites, and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games after an ATS win.

Tennessee is 2-5 ATS in their last seven Week 6 games. The Titans are 10-25-1 in their last 36 games after allowing more than 150 rushing yards in their previous game, 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games against an opponent in the AFC East, and 2-4 ATS in their last six games played at home.

Head to head, the Bills are 3-1 ATS in their last four games played against the Titans.

What are the Spread Odds?

Bills

-6 (-115)

Titans

+6 (-105)

Odds from BetOnline as of 10/18/2021

The Titans are among the teams considered as early contenders. They but they have not beaten a team with a winning record yet this season. Tannehill hasn’t really been impressive this season and it’s been Derrick Henry who has really been the dominant force in their offense.

Unfortunately, the Bills have the third-best run defense in the league this season and their defense has been humming in their last four games. If Henry cannot take over, Tannehill will be forced to pass a lot which won’t be any better because Buffalo has the second-best pass defense in the NFL this year.

Unless the spread increases to a touchdown, I’ll go with the Bills to cover the spread too.

Prediction: Buffalo Bills -6

The total has gone under in four out of the Bills’ last five games as a betting favorite. The under is 9-3-1 in their last 13 road games against an opponent with a winning home record, 5-2 in their last seven Monday games, and 8-3 in their last 11 games against the AFC South Division.

The total has gone over in 25 out of the last 35 games played by the Titans. The over is 6-1 in their last seven games against an opponent with a winning record, 5-1 in their last six games as home underdogs, 4-1 in their last five Monday games, 16-7-1 in their last 24 games played on grass, and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games played at home.

Head to head, the total has gone under in three out of the last four meetings between these two teams.

What are the Total Odds?

Under

53.5 (-110)

Odds from BetOnline as of 10/18/2021

Tennessee is averaging just 26.4 points per game this season and that number drops to 19 when they are playing at home. Their main offensive weapon is Derrick Henry and we all know that a run-heavy offense consumes more time of possession.

Then Buffalo also has the 2nd best pass defense and 3rd best run defense in the NFL so they are going to add to the Titans’ burden in scoring points. Buffalo has been putting up a lot of points in their previous four games but they won’t need to flex much of their offensive muscle here. Good defense will be good enough to put them through.

Prediction: Under 53.5
