The Chicago Bulls travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena.
Chicago is coming off a loss to the Boston Celtics but they have won 8 out of their last dozen games played and are 19-22 on the season. The Bulls are 10th in the Eastern Conference team standings but are just four games off the 6th seed and an outright playoff spot.
Washington has lost three in a row heading to this home contest. The Wizards are 17-24 SU on the season and they are 12th in the East standings but just two games off the 10th seed and a spot in the play-in tournament. Washington lost by 20 points to the Pelicans 132-112 in their most recent game which was played in D.C.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls saw their three-game winning streak end at the hands of the Boston Celtic the last time out. Despite that, the Bulls are 8-4 SU in their last 12 games played, with wins over the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Utah Jazz during that period.
DeMar DeRozan was limited to 13 points in their last game due to injury. DeRozan is, however, having one of his best seasons ever at 26.1 points per game and 4.9 assists per game. Zach LaVine is also having a fantastic year and he’s scored 30 points in two out of his last three performances while averaging 23.4 points per game.
Chicago is 13th in the league in scoring at 114.7 points per game this season. However, the Bulls have put up at least 120 points four times in their last five games played.
Washington Wizards
The Wizards are currently on a three-game losing streak. Washington’s defense has failed them in their recent games, allowing at least 123 points in their last three assignments. However, prior to this skid, the Wizards won five consecutive games, including victories over the Sixers, Kings, Suns, and Bucks.
In their last game, top scorer Bradley Beal did not play due to a hamstring injury. Beal is putting up 22.7 points per game this season with Kristaps Porzingis also scoring 22 points per contest. Kyle Kuzma is having his best season ever and is averaging more than 20 points per game this year.
Washington is just 21st in the league in scoring at 112.1 points per game this season. Their defense is mid-tier and is conceding 113.4 points per game this season. The Wizards have lost three out of their last five home games played.
Bulls vs Wizards SU Prediction
The Bulls are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games played against the Wizards. Chicago is also 4-1 SU in their last 5 games played in Washington.
Chicago Bulls SU trends:
-
The Bulls are 8-4 SU in their last 12 games played.
-
The Bulls are 8-13 SU in their last 21 games played on the road.
-
The Bulls are 6-3 SU in their last 9 games played in January.
-
The Bulls are 16-12 SU in their last 28 games played against the Eastern Conference.
Washington Wizards SU trends:
-
The Wizards are 6-14 SU in their last 20 games played.
-
The Wizards are 10-8 SU in their last 18 games played at home.
-
The Wizards are 3-9 SU in their last 12 games played against the Eastern Conference.
-
The Wizards are 6-13 SU in their last 19 Wednesday games.
The Bulls are coming off a loss to the Boston Celtics. However, they won 8 out of their previous 11 games and are playing well heading to the midway point of the season. They have split their two meetings against the Wizards this season but the Bulls have won 7 out of their last 10 head-to-head meetings and 12 out of their last 16 since the 2018-19 NBA season.
Washington has dropped its last three games played. All three losses have been by double digits with the Wizards’ defense unable to do anything to stop their opponents from scoring.
The Bulls have blown hot and cold this season but when you look at their lineup, it’s got tons of scorers, even if DeMar DeRozan is going to miss this game. DeRozan left Chicago’s last game with a quad strain and is listed as questionable here. But then the Bulls are still in a better spot because the Wizards will be without Bradley Beal who has missed five of the team’s last six games played with a hamstring strain.
I’m looking at LaVine having a big game here with DeRozan either unavailable or compromised. The Wizards will look to Kuzma and Porzingis to deliver but the Bulls have the likes of Vucevic, Patrick Williams, Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, and others who can get hot anytime. I know this is a road game but the Wizards have looked terrible on defense as of late.
Prediction: Chicago Bulls

The Wizards have played the Bulls tough this season. Washington won their first meeting of the season and lost by only four points in their second encounter of the year. The key in this game could be the possible absence of DeMar DeRozan who left the Bulls’ last game with a quad injury and is listed as questionable for this game.
However, the Wizards have played terribly during this three-game stretch, allowing at least 123 points per game while losing all three games by a double-digit margin. Take out Chicago’s loss to Boston in their last game, the Bulls have scored at least 121 points five times in six games. So even if DeRozan does not play or plays compromised, the Bulls’ other scorers like LaVine won’t find it hard to score against the Wizards’ defense.
I think this will be a back-and-forth contest. However, given the Wizards’ defensive performance recently, the Bulls should be able to score more than enough points to win this game.
Prediction: Bulls +1.5

The Bulls have been lighting up the scoreboard as of late, with the exception of their game against the Celtics. The total has gone over 230 points 8 times in their last 10 games played. Chicago is one of the better three-point shooting teams in the NBA and the Wizards’ three-point defense is just 24th overall this season.
Washington has also been scoring at a decent clip in their last five games played, putting up 114 points per game during that stretch. The Wizards made 51% of their shots last Monday and are shooting 48.2% from the floor this season. Defensively, they have allowed 123 or more during their current three-game losing streak, with the total hitting over 230 points during that span.
These teams have averaged a combined 229.4 points per game in their last 10 head-to-head meetings and barely missed 229 points with a total of 226 in their most recent meeting. This should be a high-scoring game with both defenses not playing well right now.
Prediction: Over 229
