The Los Angeles Clippers head to Texas to take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
The Clippers and the Mavericks each have five-game winning streaks going to this matchup and only one team will leave Dallas with his streak intact. Los Angeles won five in a row at home and will be hitting the road for the first time in six games. The Mavericks went 4-0 in their last homestand and then traveled to Houston to defeat the Rockets last Sunday. The Mavs return to the American Airlines Center where they will seek a fifth straight win at home.
Five in A Row
The Los Angeles Clippers are 5-1 SU since Paul George has played. After losing in PG13’s season debut against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Clippers have won five straight games on their home floor. They are now 12-5 SU on the season and are 2.5 games behind their cross-town rival Lakers in the Pacific Division team standings.
Paul George has been on fire to start the season. PG13 is averaging 25.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Kawhi Leonard leads the Clippers with 25.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while Lou Williams is scoring 22.5 points and a team-best 5.8 assists off the bench.
The Clippers are 6th in the league in scoring at 114.2 points per game and they are 10th in scoring defense at only 107.3 points per game allowed this season. Los Angeles is the second-best rebounding team in the league at 48.9 boards grabbed per contest and they are 20th in passing at 23.2 assists per game this season.
Best in Southwest
The Dallas Mavericks are also on a five-game winning streak. The Mavs won four in a row at home before defeating the Houston Rockets 137-123 last Sunday in their most recent game. Dallas is now 11-5 SU on the season and they have the best record in the Southwest Division.
Luka Doncic is having an MVP-type season for Dallas. The second-year guard is putting up 30.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 18.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per contest while Tim Hardaway Jr. and J.J. Barea are also averaging in double-digit scoring.
The Mavs are the 3rd highest-scoring team in the NBA at 119.1 points per game and they are also 4th in rebounding at 47.8 boards hauled per outing. Dallas is 10th in assists with an average of 25.3 dimes per contest and they are allowing the 17th most points per game this season at 109.9.
Who Wins?
The Clippers are 5-0 SU in their last five games played. Los Angeles is 1-4 SU in five road games played this season. The Mavericks are 5-0 SU in their last five games played. Dallas is 5-1 SU in their last six games played at home and 5-0 SU in their last five November games. Head to head, the Clippers are 5-3 SU in their last eight games played against the Mavericks.
This Clippers team looks spectacular on paper with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading them and Lou Williams providing firepower off the bench. However, the Clippers are just 1-4 SU on the road and all their wins with PG13 have come at home. Dallas will be the first road test for this complete Clippers team.
Luka Doncic is making a serious claim for early season MVP with his near triple-double average. The sophomore guard has sparked the Mavs to the top of the Southwest Division standings and is coming off a 41-point effort against the high-powered Houston Rockets. If Doncic continues his torrid play, the Clippers are in for a rough night.
We should see a high-scoring game with these two teams in the Top 6 in the league in scoring. But while they match each other in firepower, the Clippers have the better defense here. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are two of the best individual defenders in the league and both could take turns in trying to handcuff Luka Doncic. I think the Clippers’ defense is going to be the key to victory here.
Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers

Odds from BetOnline as of 11/25/19
These teams have been close in their head to head scoring averages but when you look at this game, the Clippers are the much more experienced team and they also have more firepower. Paul George’s return has made this team even more dangerous. I expect the Clippers to contain Doncic and cover the spread here.
Prediction: Clippers -2
The total has gone over in four out of the last six games played by the Clippers. Los Angeles has seen the total go over in three out of their five road games played this season. The total has gone over in 12 out of the last 15 games played by the Mavericks. The over is 8-0 in Dallas’ last eight games against the Western Conference and the over is also 5-0 in their last five November games. Head to head, the over is 2-1 in the last three meetings between these two teams.

Odds from BetOnline as of 11/25/19
These teams have combined to score an average of 210.2 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 227.67 points per game in their last three head to head encounters. The Clippers are 6th in the league in scoring while the Mavericks are 3rd in that department. Dallas is in the bottom half in scoring defense and with players like Lou Williams and Paul George, this Clippers team can score tons of points if needed. Sure, the Clippers play good defense but against an offensive team like Dallas, they can most definitely oblige in a scoring affair.
Prediction: Over 227.5
