Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets 12/07/2022 NBA Odds and Prediction

The Charlotte Hornets head to Barclays Center to test the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. E.T.

Charlotte is 7-17 SU on the season and they are next to last in the Southeast Division team standings and 13th in the Eastern Conference ladder. The Hornets have split their last six games played but have dropped their last two, losing 119-117 to the L.A. Clippers on Monday after a Kawhi Leonard game-winner.

Brooklyn is 13-12 SU on the season and they have the second-best record in the Atlantic Division but a far seven games behind the leaders Boston Celtics. The Nets have won 8 out of their last 11 games played but are coming off a 103-92 loss to Boston the last time out.

Charlotte Hornets

The season is still very young but for as long as LaMelo Ball continues to miss games due to injury, the Charlotte Hornets look like they are headed to the lottery. The Hornets are 13th in the latest playoff picture and are 12.5 games behind the Boston Celtics. Last Monday, they went toe-to-toe with the L.A. Clippers but were not able to prevent Kawhi Leonard from hitting the game-winning basket in the closing seconds of the season.

Kelly Oubre led the Hornets once again with 28 points and 7 rebounds while PJ Washington added 26 and Terry Rozier 22 points and 8 assists. Rozier leads the team in scoring at 21.2 points per game while Oubre is putting up 20.1 points per game on 43.1% FG shooting.

Mason Plumlee leads the team in assists at 4.1 APG while also grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game while Nick Richards leads the team with a 62.0% FG mark while scoring 9.6 points per game this season.

Charlotte is scoring 109.3 points per game this season. They are also averaging 45.5 boards per contest and 25.0 assists per game this year.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets headed to the season with plenty of drama after Kyrie and KD previously demanded to be traded. Steve Nash was fired after a slow start but the Nets have seemed to settle down under Jacque Vaughn as they have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games and are one game above the .500 mark this year after a slow start.

Kyrie seems to be getting his focus back and the Nets also got TJ Warren back from the injured list. Ben Simmons is out with an injury but so far, he hasn’t been a key player that the Nets will miss in this game.

Kevin Durant is putting up 29.9 points per game this season and he is coming off a 31-point performance in their last game. KD also leads the team in passing at 5.4 assists per game while Nicolas Claxton is shooting 73.0% from the field on 11.8 points per game discord.

The Nets are scoring 110.9 points per game this season while grabbing 40.2 boards per contest and issuing 26.0 assists per game.

Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets 12/7/22

Moneyline Odds: Hornets +345, Nets -585

Odds from BetOnline as of 12/6/22

With LaMelo’s ball hurt, the Charlotte offense has been in shambles. The Hornets are ranked only 26th in scoring at 109.3 points per game this season while their offensive efficiency is dead-last at 107.4. As a team, Charlotte shoots 44.4% from the field and 32.1% from three-point distance, both ranked next to last in the entire league.

The Hornets will continue to miss Ball, Gordon Hayward, Cody Martin, and Dennis Smith Jr. due to injuries.

Brooklyn’s four-game winning run ended at the hands of the Boston Celtics the last time out. The Nets are only 20th in scoring at 110.9 points per game this season. They are also 9th in scoring defense at 110.1 points per game allowed.

The Nets will be without Ben Simmons, Yuta Watanabe, and Alondes Williams on Wednesday night due to injuries.

Looking at both lineups, there’s no doubt that the Nets have more firepower on their end. Without LaMelo, the Charlotte offense has looked different and less efficient. The Hornets are also missing key scorers like Hayward, Smith Jr., and Martin.

Meanwhile, Simmons hasn’t really been a key player for the Nets this season. For as long as the Nets have both KD and Kyrie, they should be good to go in this game. The Nets also play good defense this season which should make Charlotte’s night even more difficult.

On the other side, the Hornets don’t have a defensive stopper who can contain KD in this game. Look for Durant to have a big game in leading the Nets to victory. Prediction: Brooklyn Nets

Charlotte Hornets vs Brooklyn Nets 12/7/22

Spread Odds: Hornets +9.5 (-110), Nets -9.5 (-110)

Odds from BetOnline as of 12/6/22

The Nets have struggled against the spread this season but I like the matchup that they have on Wednesday night for a couple of reasons. One, the Hornets still don’t have LaMelo ball who is the machine that runs their offense. Charlotte has one of the worst offenses in the league this season while the Nets have one of the best defenses in the NBA this year.

Brooklyn should be able to shut down Charlotte’s offense and with the Hornets not having a defender who can keep up with Kevin Durant’s ability to score. The Nets should win this game via double digits. Prediction: Nets -9.5
