Orlando Magic vs Chicago Bulls 02/01/2022 NBA Odds and Prediction

The Orlando Magic head to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Tuesday night.

Orlando is at the bottom of the team standings with their 11-40 record and they head to this game having won just four times in their last 10 games played. The Magic, however, are coming off back-to-back wins against the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks, both wins coming at home.

Chicago meanwhile is on the opposite pole and on top of the Eastern Conference team standings with a record of 31-18. The Bulls are also just 4-6 SU in their last 10 games played although they have won three out of their last four games including a victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in their last assignment.

These teams have played three times this season with the Bulls winning two of three. Orlando won their most recent encounter 114-95 last January 23 but the game was played in Orlando.

The Magic stunned the red-hot Dallas Mavericks 110-108 on Sunday night with Franz Wagner scoring 18 points including the game-winning layup with 54 seconds left in the game. Chuma Okeke scored a season-high 19 points for Orlando while Cole Anthony added 16 points and six assists. Wendell Carter Jr. had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Orlando is 29th in the NBA in scoring at 102.5 points per game this season. They are ranked 24th in rebounding at 43.5 boards grabbed per contest and ae 25th in passing at 22.7 dimes per contest. The Magic are the owners of the league’s 20th ranked scoring defense at 110.4 points per game allowed this season.

Chicago Bulls

Nikola Vucevic had a big double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds and DeMar DeRozan added 23 points and 10 assists as the Bulls overcame a slow start to beat the Blazers in their last game. Zach LaVine also scored 20 points and Coby White 18 markers while Ayo Dosunmu had 11 assists as Chicago won for the third time in four games.

Chicago is 10th in the league in scoring at 111.0 points per game. They are 28th in rebounding at 42.8 boards grabbed per contest and 12th in passing at 24.3 assists per game. The Bulls have the NBA’s 16th best scoring defense at 109.2 points per game allowed.

Who Wins?

Orlando is 4-15 SU in their last 19 games played. The Magic are 1-7 SU in their last eight games played on the road, and 2-10 SU in their last 12 games against the Central Division.

Meanwhile, the Magic are at the bottom of the team standings, not just in the East but in the entire NBA. Orlando’s 11-40 record is two games worse than Detroit’s 12-37 mark. Despite their struggles, the Magic have a nice young core to build around. Franz Wagner is the NBA’s second-highest scoring rookie this season and they have solid young talents in Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs.

Chicago though is 18-6 SU at home this season, tied with the Miami Heat for the best home record in the East. Meanwhile, the Magic have won just six times on the road this season and they are only 7-28 SU against the Eastern Conference. Look for the Bulls to win this game behind DeRozan and Vucevic.

Orlando meanwhile has been terrible in the team standings but is decent in covering the betting spread and good in doing so while playing on the road. Orlando’s average margin of defeat is well below double digits at only 7.8 points per game and their ATS plus/minus is +0.5 points.

The Magic may not be able to win this game. But don’t expect them to get blown out. Orlando has always been a competitive team and they will give the Bulls a run for their money here. Look for Chicago to win but Orlando to cover the spread.

Head to head, the total has gone under in 17 out of the last 20 games between these two teams. The under is also 8-1 in their last nine games played in Chicago.

These teams have combined to score an average of 207.6 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 206.67 points per game in their most recent three encounters.

The Bulls rank 14th in the league in pace and are the 10th best scoring team in the NBA this season. However, Chicago’s offense will be without its primary ball-handler in Lonzo Ball who is out for a month due to injury. Without their two top speedsters, the Bulls might as well play a more deliberate game centered on DeRozan’s mid-range prowess.
