The Brooklyn Nets make the trip to the City of Brotherly Love where they take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.

The Nets are 29-17 SU on the season and 16-10 SU on the road. Brooklyn is third in the Atlantic Division team standings, 4.5 games behind the Boston Celtics and just one off the Sixers. The Nets have won two in a row after a three-game losing streak. In their last game, Brooklyn defeated the Golden State Warriors 120-116.

The Sixers are 30-16 SU on the season and are second behind the Celtics in the Atlantic Division. Philly is 17-7 SU in 24 home games played this year and they are coming off a perfect 5-0 SU road trip. The Sixers rallied to beat the Sacramento Kings 129-127 in their most recent game played.

Philadelphia defeated Brooklyn in their most recent meeting last November 2022. In that game, the Sixers played without Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey. Tobias Harris, De’Anthony Melton, and Shake Milton led the way for the Sixers in that win.

The Sixers’ scoring went up to 117 points per game during their five-game winning streak and are shooting 50.2% from the floor during that stretch. Philly’s scoring defense is no. 3 overall at 110.2 points per game allowed and are forcing opponents to shoot just 46.9% from the floor and 34.1% from deep.

Last Saturday, they rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat the Sacramento Kings in a game where neither Joel Embiid nor James Harden played. Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 32 points while Tobias Harris and George Niang each had 17. Shake Milton added 15 while De’Anthony Melton scored 14 points in a balanced scoring effort.

Embiid and Harden both sat out that game with foot injuries but could return to this high-profile showdown with the Nets, who will feature former Sixer Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving. The Nets are still without the injured Kevin Durant.

The Nets have won their last two games, even without KD. The last time out, they took down the defending champions Golden State Warriors 120-116 last Sunday. Brooklyn rallied from 17 points down to pick up the victory. Nicolas Claxton had a career-high 24 points and 15 rebounds in that game.

Philly beat Brooklyn 115-106 last November 22 in a game where Embiid, Harden, and Maxey all missed. Simmons marked his first game back in Philly on that day and finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Both teams are without key players although the Nets still have Kyrie Irving. As we saw the last time, however, the Sixers have plenty of weapons and they won their last game with balanced scoring. I expect a close game between these two teams but I like the more complete and deeper Sixers team.

The Nets have won their last two games but the Sixers head home after going 5-0 on their Western Conference road trip. During that stretch, they beat the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and L.A. Clippers.

The Sixers also have one more day of rest than the Nets and based on their recent practices, Philly could get James Harden back in this game. The Nets continue to be without their main weapon in Kevin Durant. They are on a roll but Kyrie Irving has carried a huge load without KD and the Sixers have good defensive players whom they can put in front of Irving.

Both teams are without their best players but if the Sixers get one of either Embiid or Harden back, this should be another home win for them. Even if neither all-stars play, the Sixers look to have the deeper rotation.
