New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys 9/8/19 NFL Betting Odds and Pick

The New York Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys on Opening week in the 2019-20 NFL season. These two teams square-off on September 8, 2019, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

New York Giants

The New York Giants are coming off a dismal season where they won just five out of 16 games during the regular season. The Giants were so disappointing as they ranked just 17th in offensive yards gained and only 24th in defensive yards allowed. But if the Giants were bad last season, they could be worse this year. New York traded top offensive playmaker Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns while they let go top safety Landon Collins to the Washington Redskins. With those two key players out and quarterback Eli Manning on a steady decline, I’m not sure how the Giants are going to be any better this coming season. You’ll see what I mean on game day at Jerry’s World.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to build on a successful 2018 season where they finished with a record of 10-6. The Cowboys won the NFC East title and made a good playoff run before they were ousted by the eventual NFC champions Los Angeles Rams. The Dallas offense averaged only 21 points per game but quarterbacks coach Kellen Moore was promoted to offensive coordinator. The offense picked up when they acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper as the Cowboys were 7-2 with him in their line-up. Dallas lost swiss army knife Cole Beasley but they added All-Pro wide receiver, Randy Cobb. The main reason for their 2018-19 success was that they had a very talented linebacker core which should also be their key next season.

Who Wins?

The Giants are 4-6 SU in their last 10 games played. New York is 2-3 SU in their last five games played on the road. The Cowboys are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games played and Dallas is 5-0 SU in their last five games played at home. Head to head, the Cowboys are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games played against the Giants. Dallas is also 5-1 SU in their last six home games against N.Y. Giants and are the considerable NFL betting favorites here.

The Giants are 1-5 SU in their last six games against the NFC East Division and are 4-16 SU in their last 20 games overall. The Cowboys were 8-1 SU at home last season. New York heads to Jerry’s world minus last season’s top offensive player in Odell Beckham Jr. Their defense will also be without safety Landon Collins. I just don’t see how the Giants win here. This could very well be a blow out win in favor of the Cowboys.

The Giants were one of the worst offensive teams in the league last season and I don’t think they have done enough to improve. Eli Manning isn’t getting any younger nor better so I think this young Dallas squad should open their season with a big win at home. I’m picking the Dallas Cowboys to beat the New York Giants on 9/8/19.

The Giants are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games played in the month of September. The Cowboys are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against NFC East Division teams and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 Sunday games.  The Cowboys have outscored the Giants by 4.7 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 9.34 points per game in their last 3 games. I’m looking at a blowout win by Dallas against an Eli Manning-led Giants who have not improved this summer. Prediction: Cowboys -7

The total has gone over in six out of the last 10 games played by the Giants. The over is 3-2 in New York’s last five games played on the road. The total is also 6-4 in the last 10 games played by the Cowboys. Dallas has seen the total go over in three out of their last five home games. Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six games between these two teams.

What are the Totals Odds?

U 46.5 -110

The total has gone over in five out of the last six games played by the Giants against an NFC opponent. The over is 4-1 in the Cowboys’ last five games against the NFC. The under is 4-1 in the Cowboys’ last five September games. These teams combined to score 43.3 points per game in their last 10 games played and 48 points per game in their last 3 meetings. I expect this to be a blowout with the Giants unable to keep up with the Cowboys. As to the total, I don’t think the Giants will score enough points to help the Cowboys pass the 46.5 total. Prediction: Under 46.5
