The Oakland Raiders face the San Francisco 49ers in a game between two teams at the bottom of their respective divisions. These luckless teams open Week 9 on November 1st at the Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco.
The Raiders spent their bye week making a couple of personnel moves. The traded wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2019 first round pick. They also placed Marshawn Lynch on the injured reserve because of a groin injury that required surgery last October 18th.
Lynch was the Raiders’ leading rusher with 376 yards on 90 carries with 3 scores before being placed in the IR. Without him, Doug Martin and Jalen Richard are expected to fill in the slot. Richard also leads the team with 313 receiving yards on 39 catches. Tight End Jared Cook has 36 receptions for 474 yards and three touchdowns.
Oakland Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers 11/1/18
Moneyline Odds: Raiders +130, 49ers -150
Odds from Betonlie.ag as of 10/30/18
Like the Raiders, the 49ers are struggling this season at 1-7. However, the case with San Francisco is different. After losing starting quarterback Jimmy G. to a season ending ACL injury, the 49ers have fought hard and played well but they just couldn’t get a break. Four of their losses have come via eight points or fewer including three where they were up in the fourth quarter before losing. In the last three weeks, the Niners lost two games where they were leading with two minutes left to play.
C.J. Beathard is filling in for Jimmy Garoppolo and he has thrown for 1,252 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. Matt Breida leads the San Francisco ground attack with 487 rushing yards and two scores on 84 carries. George Kittle leads the team with 37 catches for a total of 584 yards and two touchdowns.
Oakland is 1-10 SU in their last 10 games played and 0-5 SU in their last 5 games on the road. San Francisco is 0-5 SU in their last five games played and 4-14 SU in their last 18 home games. Head to head, the Niners are 4-2 SU in their last 6 against the Raiders.
The Raiders are a mess on and off the field and I don’t like to put my bet on them. However, the 49ers haven’t had success without Jimmy G, winning just a total of three games without him since the start of the 2016 season. Sure, the losses this season have been close shaves, but three wins without one guy? That’s ridiculous.
This is a game between two struggling teams and either team can win this game. The 49ers have a couple of advantages: they are healthier, they are playing at home and Oakland is 0-3 on the road this season. I think this one’s a 50-50 games and I’ll take the plus money on the underdogs.
We’re picking the Oakland Raiders to beat the San Francisco 49ers on 11/1/18.
The Raiders are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games on the road. On the other hand, the 49ers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games at home. San Francisco is also 4-2 ATS in their last six games versus the Raiders at their home field.

Spread Odds: Raiders +3 (-112), 49ers -3 (-108)
Odds from Betonlie.ag as of 10/30/18
The Raiders have not covered six out of their last seven games as an underdog of at least 3 points. But the 49ers have also failed to cover six out of their last seven games as a favorite of at least 3 points. The 49ers lost to the lowly Arizona Cardinals while the Raiders have played four games against .500 teams. Nobody wants to place their bets on a mess like the Raiders. But I can’t lay chalk with a San Francisco team that has won just three games since the start of the 2016 season without Jimmy G. as quarterback. I’ll take the extra three points here.
Prediction: Raiders +3
The under is 11-3 in the last 14 games of the Raiders and the under is also 5-1 in Oakland’s last 6 games on the road. The total has gone over in 8 out of the last 11 games of the 49ers and also over in four out of their last five home games.
Oakland Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers 11/1/18
Over/Under Odds: Over 46.5 -110, Under 46.5 -110
Odds from Betonlie.ag as of 10/30/18
These teams have combined to score an average of 44.4 points in their last five games against each other. However, the 49ers have scored just 18 points or fewer in their last three games while the Raiders have averaged just 13.67 points in their last 3 games played. San Francisco is averaging 21.6 points per game, 23rd in the NL while Oakland is an even worse 19.7 points per game or 27th in the league. These teams don’t have enough offense for this total.
