Ole Mississippi takes on Memphis on 8/31/19 at the Liberty Bowl.
The Ole Miss offense lost QB Jordan Ta’amu and their loaded receiving corps of DK Metcalf, AJ Brown and DaMarcus Lodge but despite that, the program has filled up the vacancies. Add Scottie Phillips and the running game to the equation and I think that the Rebels can run their offense in this game without a problem. On the other end of the field though, they have a long way to go with their defense finishing last in the SEC last season.
Memphis can run, throw and have good pass protection. That offensive machine looks to hit one home run after another with the kind of talent they have. This is a team with plenty of experience because they will be returning nine starters on defense returning from last season. The Tigers secondary is going to be a problem. They need to make more big plays, make more interceptions and be able to prove that they can beat a good offense.
Ole Miss is 0-5 SU in their last five games played but they are 7-0 SU in their last seven games played in August. Mississippi is also 6-1 SU in their last seven-week 1 games. Memphis is 4-2 SU in their last six games played. The Tigers are 1-15 SU in their last 16 games against an opponent from the Southeast Conference. Head to head, Mississippi is 7-1 SU in their last eight games against Memphis.
I think this will be a wild game with several back and forth swings. Ole Miss’ SEC talent should be on full display early on but Memphis will keep coming at them with the production and it may be a late scoring drive that gets the win for Tigers. Prediction: Memphis
The Ole Miss Rebels are 0-6 ATS in their last six games played and 1-4 ATS in their last five games played on the road. Memphis is 6-3 ATS in their last nine games played and 5-1 ATS in their last six games played as the football betting favorite. Head to head, Ole Miss is 4-1 ATS against Memphis but the Tigers are 4-2 ATS in their last six home games against Ole Miss.

As stated above, I think Memphis wins on a late touchdown drive. I think that this game will be close given the pedigree of Ole Miss. And I think that this game will be separated by a field goal or four points. I’ll take the plus points here. Prediction: Mississippi
The total has gone under in four out of the last five games played by Mississippi. The over is 13-6 in Ole Miss’ last 19 games played on a Sunday. The over is 5-2 in Memphis’ last seven games played and the over is also 7-1 in the Tigers’ last 8 week 1 game played. The over is also 4-1 in Memphis’ last five games played on a Saturday. Head to head, the under is 2-1 in their last three meetings.

I’m looking at 1000 yards of combined offense for both sides. These teams combined to score an average of more than 70 points per game last season. This should be a shootout you won’t want to miss. Prediction: Over 68
