Luis Alberto Lopez is a once-beaten former and Top-15 contender. Since taking his first professional loss to Abraham Montoya last March 24, 2018, Lopez has won five consecutive bouts. In his last outing, he won an 8th round technical decision over fringe contender Ray Ximenez last February 28, 2019 to win the WBO international featherweight title. Michael Dutchover vs. Ramon Mascarena Jr.

The 21 year old Dutchover began boxing at the age of 8 and went on to have a notable amateur career. Dutchover was a runner-up at the 2016 Golden Gloves and a Bronze medalist at the 2016 Olympic qualifiers. He turned pro at the age of 18 in 2016 and has a record of 12-0 with 9 knockouts. In his last bout, the Midland, Texas native stopped gate keeper Ruben Tamayo last November 16, 2018. He has knocked out five out of his last six opponents.

Mascarena is a 25-year old from Chile but who resides in Tijuana, Mexico. He was a former Chilean National Champion who turned pro in 2017 and has a record of 10-0 with 5 knockouts. All of Mascarena’s 10 bouts were fought in a span of one year. He has not fought in 10 months and will be fighting outside Chile for the first time in his professional boxing career.

Who Wins?

Mascarena is a tough fighter who has decent punching power but he’s up against a diamond in the rough in Michael Dutchover. Dutchover isn’t just the better boxer between the two, he also has a huge edge in punching power. Dutchover has knockout power in both hands so it won’t be too much to expect a stoppage here. Mascarena is fighting outside Chile for the first time and that could be a factor as well. Prediction: Michael Dutchover

Saul Sanchez vs. Brandon Leon Benitez

Sanchez is the brother of featherweight prospect Emilio Sanchez and the 21-year old is fresh off a majority decision win over Luis Fernando Saavedra. Sanchez began boxing at the age of 8 and he compiled an amateur record of 90-18. He turned pro at the age of 19 and has a record of 11-0 with 6 knockouts. He’s fought exclusively in California and will be facing a tough opponent in Benitez.

Benitez has been a busy boxer lately, having fought four times in the last nine months. As an amateur, he won 186 bouts and as a pro, he dealt the only loss of featherweight prospect Chaise Nelson’s career. His only loss came at the hands of unbeaten Mexican Irving Turrubiartes. Benitez is 14-1 with 6 knockouts.

Who Wins?

This is the biggest test so far for Saul Sanchez and I expect him to step up to the occasion. Joel Diaz has turned Sanchez into a complete fighter-one who can box and one who can go for the knockouts. On the other hand, Benitez is your typical Mexican brawler. He will go for the knockout in every fight or win by decision trying to. It’s going to be a close bout but in the end, I think Saul Sanchez has learned enough to win this bout. Petr Petrov vs. Ruben Tamayo

Petro Petrov is a two-time world title challenger and a former WBA-NABA lightweight champion who has a record of 39-6-2 with 20 knockouts. Tsar was one of the top lightweight contenders in the last five years but he’s now 36 and has lost two out of his last three bouts. In his last fight, he scored a 3rd round knockout over unknown Hermin Isava.

30-year old Tamayo is considered among the gatekeepers of the sport. The native of Mexico City has a record of 27-12 with 18 knockouts. Tamayo has won just once in his last nine bouts so he’s not a good pick here. In his last bout, he was knocked out by Michael Dutchover in Ontario.

Who Wins?

Petr Petrov is past his prime at 36 years old but the former world title challenger is facing an opponent who has won just once in his last nine bouts and lost by knockout the last three times out, I’d put my boxing betting money on him. Petrov may be slower now but he still hits as hard. Tamayo is younger but I’m not sure what’s wrong with him, really. Prediction: Petr Petrov

Angel Ruiz vs. Luis Gerardo Avila

Angel Ruiz is an unbeaten super lightweight from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. The 21 year old southpaw has a record of 12-0 with 9 knockouts. In his last bout, he knocked out Roberto Almazan last March and has won his last three bouts by stoppage. He’s fought four out of his last five bouts in the United States.

Avila is 27 years old and from Mexico City. The 27 year old started fighting as a lightweight and has a subpar record of 8-17 with 5 knockouts. No question here as Angel Ruiz is facing a journeyman in Avila. Avila is a tough Mexican who likes to trade punches but he’s almost always getting outboxed or getting stopped. Ruiz is a special talent with his punching power and good technical skills. Easy win here for Ruiz. Prediction: Angel Ruiz
