New Orleans Saints vs Seattle Seahawks 10/25/2021 NFL Odds, Preview, and Prediction

The New Orleans Saints make the trip to Lumens Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the week 7 edition on Monday Night Football.

New Orleans is coming off a bye week and in the week before that, they defeated the Washington Football Team 33-22 for their second win in their last three games. The Saints are 3-2 SU and ATS in five games played this season and they are in second place in the NFC South Division, behind only the 6-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Seattle heads to this home game after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 in overtime. The Seahawks are 2-4 SU and 3-3 ATS on the season and they are tied for the worst record in the NFC West where the unbeaten 7-0 Arizona Cardinals reside. Seattle is winless in two home games played so far this season and will be without Russell Wilison and Chis Carson in this game.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints seek their second straight win as they try to keep pace with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South division. The Saints had their bye week the last time out and they beat the Washington Football Team 33-22 in the week prior to their bye.

Jameis Winston threw four TD passes for 279 passing yards to lead the Saints to victory in Week 5. Wilson completed a 72-yard TD pass to Deonte Harris and also had a 49-yard Hail Mary TD pass which was caught by Marquez Callaway in that game. New Orleans’ defense picked Taylor Heinicke twice and pressured him all throughout the game while limiting Washington to just 22 points.

New Orleans averages 169.4 passing yards per game and is 9tn in the league in rushing offense at 125.8 rushing yards per game. The Saints are scoring an average of 25.4 points per game and are 4th in scoring defense at 18.2 points per game allowed this season.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks will try to turn things around after suffering back-to-back defeats against the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers. At 2-4, they are not yet in win-now mode but they have to start picking up wins to keep up with the playoff contenders.

In their last Game, Geno Smith got the start in the absence of Russell Wilson and he completed 23 of 32 passes for 209 yards with one touchdown in his first NFL start in four years. Alex Collins also rushed for 101 yards while filling in for Chris Carson but they still lost 23-20 in overtime. Wilson and Carson will be out again on Monday and Collins were banged up against the Steelers.

Seattle is 22nd in passing offense at 233.3 yards per game and they are 15th in rushing offense at 110.7 rushing yards per contest. The Seahawks are scoring only 23.3 points per game 18th overall and are allowing their opponents to score 24.8 points per game, 21st overall in the NFL.

Who Wins?

The Saints are 15-5 SU in their last 20 games played. New Orleans is 15-3 SU in their last 18 games played on the road. The Seahawks are 1-4 SU in their last five games played. Seattle is 5-1 SU in their last six games played against the NFC South.

Head to head, the Seahawks are 6-4 SU in their last 10 games played against the Saints. Seattle is also 5-2 SU in their last seven home games against New Orleans.

New Orleans heads to this game well-rested as they are coming off a bye week that was preceded by a win over the Washington Football team.

Jameis Winston threw four touchdown passes against Washington and he has thrown at least two touchdowns in their three wins and less than two in their losses. With the Seahawks ranked just 28th against the pass, there will be plenty of opportunities for Winston to find his mark.

The Seahawks will be playing at home and will have the crowd behind them. However, without Russell Wilson and Chris Carson, this is an entirely different team. Give credit to Geno Smith for a hard-fought game against the Steelers but still, it wasn’t enough.

Unless they get QB1 and RB1 back, Seattle just doesn’t have enough offensive muscle to keep up with the Saints. Give me the Saints to win an offensive battle.

Prediction: New Orleans Saints

Other Bets to Make

New Orleans is 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games played. The Saints are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games played against the NFC West, 9-1 ATS in their last 10 road games against an opponent with a losing home record, 8-1 ATS in their last nine Week 7 games, 17-7 ATS in their last 24 games as betting favorites, 37-15 in their last 52 October games, 17-7 ATS in their last 24 games as road favorites, and 36-15 ATS in their last 51 road games.

Seattle is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 Monday games, 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games as betting underdogs. The Seahawks are 34-15-4 in their last 53 games after a straight-up loss, and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 Monday games. However, the Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games on field turf, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the NFC, and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games after an ATS victory

The Saints’ success this season has relieved heavily on how Jameis Winston is throwing the football. In games where he has thrown two or more passing touchdowns, New Orleans has won. In the game that he didn’t they lost their games. Winston could have a good passing evening on Monday with Seattle ranked just 28th against the pass this season.

Last week, Seattle saw its first 100-yard rushing game since 2015 from Alex Collins but unless they can run the football consistently in this game, they are going to have a hard time outscoring Winston and the Saints without Russell Wilson and Chis Carson.

I think Winston throws multiple touchdowns against a subpar Seattle passing defense. The Seahawks rank only 21st in scoring defense and the Saints are going to score multiple touchdowns here to get the victory and the cover.

Prediction: Saints -4

The total has gone under in six out of the last eight games played by New Orleans. The under is 5-2 in their last seven games against the NFC, 8-2 in their last 10 games after an ATS win, 5-0 in their last five games after scoring 30 or more points in their previous game, 10-2 in their last 12 games after a straight up win, 9-2 after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game, and 6-2 in their last eight road games.

The total has gone under in each of the last four games played by the Seahawks. The under is 4-0 in their last four games as betting underdogs, 6-0 in their last six games after a straight up loss, 9-2 in their last 11 games against the NFC, 4-1 in their last five Week 7 games, 8-2 in their last 10 games on field turf, 5-1 in their last six games against an opponent with a winning record, and 5-2 in their last seven home games.

The Saints hit the over in their last two games prior to their bye week. However, the totals for those game were 43 and 44 against the Giants and Washington, respectively. In those two games, New Orleans has averaged just 25 points per game.

It’s tough to read how the Seahawks offense is going to perform given the injuries to Wilson, Carson, and other offensive players. The Saints rank 4th in the entire league at 18.2 points per game allowed and the Seahawks are going to have issues scoring the football.

Seattle has hit the under in its last four games played. This one should be no different.

Prediction: Under 42
