Sevilla FC
Sevilla FC or Sevilla is the oldest sporting club in Spain. The club was formed in 1890 and is the most successful club in Andalusia with a national league title win in 1945-46, five Spanish Cup wins, one Spanis Super Cup, a record five UEFA Cups/UEFA Eur LEague titles and the 2006 UEFA Super Cup. During the 2017/18 term, they defeated Manchester United to get past the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in a decade. Last season, they finished 6th in the final La Liga table. Just last June, Sevilla announced the signing of Julen Lopetegui as their manager for the next three seasons.

Celta de Vigo
RC Celta de Vigo was founded in 1923 after the merger of Real Vigo Sporting and Real Fortuna Football Club. They have reached the final of the Copa del Rey thrice in their history but have never won the title nor the league title. Their best season was in 1970/71 when they were unbeaten at home as the “giant killers”. They finished 6th in the La Liga that year and qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time. During the 2016-17 UEFA Europa League, they made it to the semi-finals before losing to Manchester United. Celta de Vigo finished 17th in the La Liga during the 2018/19 season and they enter this match as the soccer betting underdogs.

Who Wins?
Sevilla heads to this match having lost just once in their last six games. They are 4-1-1 over that period. On the other hand, Celta de Vigo is 3-0-3 in their last six games, going 1-3 SU in their last four matches played across all competition. Head to head, these teams have played in a total of 28 matches. Both teams have 12 wins each while these teams figured in a tie on four matches.
Sevilla appointed Julen Lopetegui as new manager with the hopes of getting a top-four finish this term. With Lopetegui, 11 new players arrived costing a total of 124 million euros. Sergio Reguilon, Oliver Torres and Luuk De Jong are among the new faces that could spell the difference this season. Lopetegui’s strategy is a possession-based system that aims to break the opponent with movement and quick passing. It’s what he did in Real Madrid that made them successful. Lopetegui hopes that his new team practices what he preaches to deliver the results.
On the other hand, Celta de Vigo have three points right now after defeating Valencia in their most recent outing. The win came after a 1-3 loss to Real Madrid during their season opener. However, Valencia isn’t better than Sevilla and with a new manager in town and they have opened the new season with back to back wins over Espanyol and Granada, allowing just one goal in two games. I like Sevilla’s form heading to this contest. Prediction: Sevilla
