Super Bowl 53 Coin Flip Prop Bet Odds, Preview and Prediction

The Coin flip or coin toss is one of the most popular prop bets for the Super Bowl and among the prop bets, it’s the one that requires minimal to no effort on your part because as it is, it’s just a coin toss.

Unlike other bets where you have to factor in previous performances, stats, win-loss records and the likes, the coin flip is pretty much simple. Once the coin is tossed, it’s either heads or tails. That’s it. The coin toss is a 50-50 bet which needs no analysis whatsoever. However, you can always look at historical data before making your bets. And yes, that’s what we’re going to try to help you with.

Team History

The Patriots have won the coin toss three times in their 10 Super Bowl appearances, calling HEADS in all occasions. They lost all three Super Bowls and these were Super Bowls 31,46 and 52. On the other hand, the Rams won all the coin tosses in their three previous Super Bowl appearances with Los Angeles going with HEADS in Super Bowls 14 and 36 while choosing TAILS at Super Bowl 34. The Rams won the Super Bowl in the only time they picked TAILS. 24 total Super Bowl winners won the coin toss with half of them picking HEADS and of course the other half choosing TAILS.

What’re the Odds?

Who Wins Coin Toss?
Patriots -105, Rams -105
Odds from Bovada as of 1/24/19

The NFC won the coin toss 11 consecutive times from 1998-2011. However, the AFC has won the coin toss in three out of the last seven Super Bowls. New England is 3-7 in 10 Super Bowl appearances while the Rams are 3-0. There looks to be a trend but it’s nothing really. If you like numbers, go with the Rams.

What’re the Odds?

Will The Team That Wins The Coin Toss Win The Game?
Yes -105, No -105
Odds from Bovada as of 1/24/19

Teams that won the coin toss have gone on to win the Super Bowl 28 out of 52 times  or 53.8% of the time. Interestingly, the Patriots are 0-3 SU when winning the coin toss at the Super Bowl. I picked them to lose the coin toss above and I’m picking them to win the game so for me, this one’s a no.
