The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels open a three-game set at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Monday night.

New York has struggled since the All-Str break and has seen their lead in the AL East team standing cut down to 7.5 games. The Yankees though have played better as of late, winning six out of their last 10 games before Sunday’s games. New York is 78-50 on the season and they are just 33-30 on the road this year.

Meanwhile, the Angels are 55-73 on the season and they are next to last in the AL West team standings. Los Angeles is way out of the playoff conversation and they are 26.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the division standings. The Angels are 4-6 in their last 10 games played but head to this series having won their last three games played. They are just 26-36 at home and are 31-28 as betting underdogs this season.

New York Yankees

The Yankees began the season red hot but have struggled since the All-Star break. New York is just 9-16 this month and has dropped their last two games entering Sunday’s schedule. They have gone from having the best record in baseball to being the second-best team in the American League, 3.5 games behind the Houston Astros.

Frankie Montas will open on top of the mound for the Yankees Montas has allowed only 60 runs in 124.1 innings pitched this season but has conceded 16 runs in 19.2 innings since being traded to the Yankees. Los Angeles Angels

The Angels are having a disappointing season but they hope to finish strong and build momentum for the next campaign. Despite having Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, Los Angeles is out of the playoff equation and are close to 30 games behind in the division standings.

Jose Suarez will start for the Angels on Monday. The 24-year-old left-hander from Venezuela is just 4-10 this season with an ERA of 4.19 and a WHIP of 1.34. He has a decent .235 expected batting average but has conceded 35 runs in a total of 73 innings pitched.
